One of a few awards coming their way over the next few weeks, Max Anderson and Brice Matthews were named Collegiate Baseball All-Americans this morning as announced by the publication. Anderson was named to the second team after hitting .414 with 21 homers and 70 RBI while being an unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten First Team.
Matthews was a third-team honoree batting .359 with 20 home runs, 67 RBI while also being named to the All-Big Ten First Team. Matthews reached base safely in the first 52 games of the season which extended his streak to 55 dating back to last season. It was the longest streak by any Huskers since at least 1999.
RHP Paul Skenes was named National Player of the Year for LSU after leading the nation with 167 strikeouts with a fastball that reaches 102 mph.
