Matt Rhule saved Nebraska football

This is a point I think is gonna be hard to argue with:

Dana has done a better job in 2 weeks of coaching the QB, the RB's, the WR's, TE's and the OL than the whole fricking 5 offensive coaches combined. That's a fact.

How can I say that? You think all 5 position groups just magically got better in 2 weeks from the same shit the other coaches had been trying to teach them in the last 2 years?

Fvck, if those other position coaches were any good, the OLine would have been playing well, the RB's would have been hitting the holes, the WR's would have been getting separation and blocking the perimeter, and Dylan wouldn't have struggled for the last 5 games.

How did that entire transformation just happen to improve in 2 weeks? It's ALL Dana.
Same personnel, same playbook, same plays, same everything.

It's like we replaced the pitching coach who had his top two pitchers with ERA's of 7.50 a game because he didn't know how to set hitters up, how to pitch backwards and how to have hitters get themselves out. Same stuff on the mound.

So the new pitching coach calls pitches with the same pitchers with the same "stuff" and they have an ERA of 0.50.

It takes a coach with talent to bring out talent.

Yeah it's embarrassing how Dana has exposed how terrible our offensive coaching staff is in just a couple of weeks. Hopefully Rhule lets him shitcan his nepo hires and bring in a real staff.

Matt Rhule is an idiot who will be fired in 2 years. Everyone is blinded by his 6-5 record against shit opponents. With the massive win against 5-6 wisconsin he has redeemed himself. C'mon now. I will enjoy this I guess.

It'll be an interesting off season in seeing if Rhule makes further staff changes. It would certainly seem Rhule needs to take a hard look at the last two years regarding player development & utilization.

he's not an idiot, but his skillset is really his speaking ability.. I am not sure he actually knows that much about football. He's a people person in a lot of ways, and that is a very good thing from the perspective of recruiting and running an organization.

It seems he is too nice at times, and needs someone like Troy to keep him results oriented. I am convinced, if we didn't have someone pressing him, nothing would have changed and the results would have been much different.

So, as long as the Administration at UNL understand his strengths and weaknesses, he can be a productive member of the organization, but there has to be a leader who is really driving things above him, and the same from the coaches below him.

Dana made a lot of this possible too. He get's the most credit, followed by Troy and Matt. All 3 get some credit..

We will see in 2 years.

But what we saw yesterday is a team that became bowl eligible for the first time since 2016 and beat a team that has had our number since 2011. This team has been so mentally fragile many (including myself) didn’t think it was possible. It may be a baby step, but it was HUGE for the program.

I can’t say this enough because a loss yesterday would have devastated this team and this staff. The pressure to become Bowl Eligible against Iowa would have been too much. Now that the monkey is off their back, they can go play loose against Iowa and possibly be 7-5 at the end of the regular season!

I've agreed with a lot of your takes over the last couple years, but now you just sound like a broken record. This was probably the most complete game against an in-conference opponent since the 2015 Michigan St game. This is what I've been waiting to see for a long time. I'm going to enjoy it. Colorado was a nice win earlier this year, but we didn't do anything in the second half to carry momentum forward. In this game, we never let off the gas. That is exactly what Nebraska football should look like.

Rhule saved the program? That’s an interesting conclusion for a 6-5 team. I think it’s more accurate to say Rhule may have saved himself by hiring DH.

But now we’ll see how he hits the portal to upgrade and replace tons of seniors. And perhaps even more important: Will he keep DH as OC and upgrade this coaching staff elsewhere? Wide receiver coaching for sure. Raiola’s very good day would have been exceptional with better receivers who can get open and avoid drops.

Let’s table this topic for at least one year and revisit it.

Rhule could cure cancer, win a natty, and feed the world and kong would complain. It’s what he does.

Maybe rhule banged his wife?
Guys like him are typical garbage scum arse fans the are an abonination and black eye to any fanbase.

What I think is hilarious, we won and now the garbage scum that all posted classless trash, especially last week are now singing praises thinking we didn't see what they did and trying to blend in as I didn't do anything or no big deal what we said as we won! Go root for another team if they'll even have ya!

They are classless trolls that have lost credibility and no one should be listening to their bully lyin ass narratives or their lyin' BS posts. because that's all they are as well as gutless cowards that disappear into the woodwork.

Rhule may have saved himself but maybe this is the turning point we can all look back on.

I think we can all agree that we don’t want to be a fan of Wisconsin right now. They are trending down. We are trending up. Say we win next week and win the Bowl game and up 8-5. That momentum can help with portal transfers and recruiting. Lot of opportunity ahead!

No. I agree. I am happy for the kids and you could see the difference that Dana makes. We finally get to a bowl, but it doesnt hide the fact that we are more than likely going to have an 8th cosecutive losing season ( 6-7 ). That is the real monkey on their back that needs to be removed for Matt's sake.

We're all fans here and we're all pleased with what we saw on Saturday. To have balance, you need the critical fans and the sunshine pumpers. This place would be incredibly boring if all it were was sunshine pumping out the ass. Meanwhile the last decade-plus of Nebraska football was certainly worthy of some criticism. You need a mix of opinions to have balance, to have actual discussions on this board, and I've always promoted this.

Great win coach Holgerson....and i suppose you also Rhule
...lol. ......we shall see beat those fvcking assholes next week and we will talk about naming a bathroom for you. Jk....about time make it happen.

How do you know it is more than likely we finish with a losing record? We don’t even know who we will play in the Bowl Game yet.

Dude we were 5-1 and he openly tried to get DH on staff prior to the year starting. We lost three games - he had enough and brought someone in to fix it. Big boy decisions we were pissed previous coaches didn’t make and some people crap on Rhule for making the hard decision.

That's the shit that irks me. He brought Satterfield with him (after striking out on a couple other guys) so that's on him.

That said when he sees there is a problem he doesn't duck his head in the sand and hope it goes away he doubles back and tries to fix it. Stuff that fans criticized him for also. So it's kinda damned if you do or damned if you don't.

We are a weired bunch of fans sometimes I swear. I'm glad he made the move that most thought he should. Yet people still complained.

Had no choice and time was running out after Peetz said no, which rushed Rhule's hire of Satt as that hourglass was on it's last few granules before time expired as to say. There was also not much available at the time as far as OC's so we got stuck with what we got stuck with after others that were available told Rhule no.

I’ll defend Kong on this one. He has been clear that he does t want Rhule to fail. He would love to see him succeed here but he needs to prove it because he hasn’t proven he’s that guy yet.

Me personally.. I believe he’s a great leader and just needs the right coordinators

Not all of us a Husker fans, plenty of trolls pretending to be one of us but it’s not hard pinpointing them out..

I get it. That said it was a bad hire REGARDLESS. He has to own it as a HC and you should as a supporter. I actually like Rhule but that's on him and he don't get a pass. I knew it the moment he was hired it wasn't a good hire while yall tried to find ways to justify it.

Anyways water under the bridge. He has corrected that. Let's see what else he does on this "do over". I hope he gives DH the ability to hire his own staff as an OC if he stays on personally. I'm not high on those guys outside of Raiola

The only thing that might change is Foley but ST's yesterday were pretty good. I don't think he's the answer and needs to go. I think Satt could stay on as TE coach as his Ends did a phoenominal job yesterday. Donovan ain't goin nowhere especially after what we saw from the line yesterday. One thing that showed yesterday is, That O is playing with Holgerson's sttitude and fire. Now that we have a right system in place with Holgerson running it, who we currently have minus Foley might just prove everyone wrong that's thinking we have to scuttle the entire offensive staff. Change in OC is what the doctor ordered for this most times mentally disabled offense. Bad play calling, with no plays ever running smoohly and very poor execution by very talented players. This offense yesterday ran extremely smooth and had a natural flow to it which we have not seen in at least a decade as this offense was running on all cylinders and the first time in years this team pretty much hummed in all 3 phases of it and this is what wins big games and championships!

I never heard one person complain about having made the change to DH. Not one. The complaints are that it took as long as it did. And that’s a pretty valid complaint

I support any further coaching changes on offense that Dana wants, even if that is none. I still feel like the WR and RB coaches could be improved, and Satt sticking around could be awkward. But I will defer to Dana.

Foley could go too, or not. Punting has been good, and FG problems seem to be solved. Still feel like Foley is a weak spot, and special teams will still bite us. I expect Iowa to win the special teams battle on a cold Friday night game.

NU did'nt give up a rushing td at home this year....I been told we are going to replace 0 and 9...."no problem"...hope this is true

There are so many miserable clowns on this board. Matt Rhule has brought energy, positivity, a better roster, and multiple potential stud QBs to Nebraska. One a likely top 10 NFL pick. TO NEBRASKA. Real QBs, which is crazy. Replaced his OC on the fly and continues to make the tough decisions in the face of pressure. He not is above criticism for sure, but if you don’t see the talent and program trajectory going up, then I got nothing for you. Stfu and enjoy the moment, and look for more next week.
