I’ll give Rhule the move. Ain’t crowning him yet. Trending up. I’ll crown Dana though. Long Live DanaRhule brought him in. Great move - excited for the change.
Rhule did bring him in - but I’m not convinced it was entirely his idea. He kept dead weight Satt on staff where most other coaches cut out the cancer.Rhule brought him in. Great move - excited for the change.
Had NU beaten Illinois, as they should have. NU would have been bowl eligible and Satt would have still been calling plays today.....Rhule did bring him in - but I’m not convinced it was entirely his idea. He kept dead weight Satt on staff where most other coaches cut out the cancer.
Are you sure about that? I mean Fickell did well in the AAC or wherever Cincinnati was at the time but that’s itThis is the best coach Rhule has ever beaten
Dude we were 5-1 and he openly tried to get DH on staff prior to the year starting. We lost three games - he had enough and brought someone in to fix it. Big boy decisions we were pissed previous coaches didn’t make and some people crap on Rhule for making the hard decision.Rhule did bring him in - but I’m not convinced it was entirely his idea. Which is why the bowl curse had to be exorcised. Time for bigger goals.Had NU beaten Illinois, as they should have. NU would have been bowl eligible and Satt would have still been calling plays today.....
True we could end up .500 but Scott Frost did a lot of damage. Riley never beat Wisconsin. This was a big win on many levels!Mike Riley went 9-4 in Year 2. It's a little early to call Rhule a savior for going .500.
But, we really don't know, and never will know to what extent he as gonna allow Dana to tinker with the offense. Maybe he wanted Dana to kinda mentor a guy making 1.4M a year who doesn't really understand that offense is execution and rhythm.Dude we were 5-1 and he openly tried to get DH on staff prior to the year starting. Agree - I don’t think he wanted OC at that time which is why he ended up at TCU as an analyst. Had he come in - he would have been calling plays. Hell - he was here 6 days made the change to call plays. But, we really don't know, and never will know to what extent he as gonna allow Dana to tinker with the offense. Dana is not gonna be some second banana to a guy like Satt, and if Rhule wanted Satt to run the offense and have Dana sprinkle in things, it would have been a total no-go on Dana's part. Guys like him are gonna have total control of the play calling, not some babysitter for a guy whose never gonna "get it."
Dana may have left Lincoln, after several sessions with Satt and just knew there's no effing way that offense was gonna work.
RHULE tried to hire Dana several months before Trev left. Dana said he wasn’t ready to coach again then. This was all Rhule. Dana and he have been friends for years.Rhule did bring him in - but I’m not convinced it was entirely his idea. He kept dead weight Satt on staff where most other coaches cut out the cancer.
He’s still using Satt’s offense. The difference is his game planning, play calling and coaching of details. Some apparently think Dana was lying through his teeth when he explained what happened last winter and why he didn’t come to Lincoln. But, we really don't know, and never will know to what extent he as gonna allow Dana to tinker with the offense. Maybe he wanted Dana to kinda mentor a guy making 1.4M a year who doesn't really understand that offense is execution and rhythm.

What ?Dana tried to hire Dana several months before Trev left. Dana said he wasn’t ready to coach again then. This was all Rhule. Dana and he have been friends for years.
This was something he was told to do in no uncertain terms.Rhule brought him in. Great move - excited for the change.
He finally has a leader above him who’s made his bones hiring nothing but Big Winners! The situation has changed. Given the way things have gone down, DH arguably gets more credit for ending the bowl-less streak than Rhule does. But Rhule is the head man getting paid. We will find out if Rhule is smart enough to realize that he needs the best coaches for his own success. He wasn’t that smart on his first test.
Dana was on campus last winter. He addressed it on Spirts Nightly. Said he was tired and not ready to coach again. At TCU he would help game plan for a couple of days then take the rest of the week including game days completely off. What ?
Read what you wrote because it makes no senseDana was on campus last winter. He addressed it on Spirts Nightly. Said he was tired and not ready to coach again. At TCU he would help game plan for a couple of days then take the rest of the week including game days completely off.
By admitting they were in over their heads. All it took was some one to say RBs need to hit the holes harder and receivers gotta blockLooks like the curse might finally be broken.
He said he wasn’t required to be a the games. I’m assuming he was involved in discussions and putting a play called sheet together.Dana was on campus last winter. He addressed it on Spirts Nightly. Specifically: "Dana tried to hire Dana." I lol'd at that part, ngl.Read what you wrote because it makes no sense
This is a point I think is gonna be hard to argue with:Dude we were 5-1 and he openly tried to get DH on staff prior to the year starting. yes. 100% yes. This is a point I think is gonna be hard to argue with:
Dana has done a better job in 2 weeks of coaching the QB, the RB's, the WR's, TE's and the OL than the whole fricking 5 offensive coaches combined. That's a fact.
How can I say that? You think all 5 position groups just magically got better in 2 weeks from the same shit the other coaches had been trying to teach them in the last 2 years?
Fvck, if those other position coaches were any good, the OLine would have been playing well, the RB's would have been hitting the holes, the WR's would have been getting separation and blocking the perimeter, and Dylan wouldn't have struggled for the last 5 games.
How did that entire transformation just happen to improve in 2 weeks? It's ALL Dana.
Same personnel, same playbook, same plays, same everything.
It's like we replaced the pitching coach who had his top two pitchers with ERA's of 7.50 a game because he didn't know how to set hitters up, how to pitch backwards and how to have hitters get themselves out. Same stuff on the mound.
So the new pitching coach calls pitches with the same pitchers with the same "stuff" and they have an ERA of 0.50.
It takes a coach with talent to bring out talent.
Holgorson's bluntness seems to offset some of Rhule's beta qualities.
I don't think you have to be a nice guy to be a really good coach, I also don't think you have to be prick to be a good coach either.yes. 100% yes.
and perhaps a little bit of this, also:
