This year and last years bowl game have nothing to do with the argument they should have been in the playoff. An undefeated P5 champion should have never been left out based on principle. The only reason they didn’t make it is that it would have shut the sec out of the playofff. Change bama to Michigan in the same scenario, and they leave the big 10 out no questions asked. It was bs. And it had nothing to do with how good they were or were not.

I'm pretty certain FSU had 10 additional starters sit out that game. A total of 29 scholarship players were out, so that could have meant 3rd stringers going up against that Georgia team.
Literally every single team would've been crying too of they were in FSU shoes.
The FSU team that went undefeated wasn't the same team that played Georgia. I'm not sure why people pretend that it was.
With that being said, FSU even with their entire roster still loses to Georgia by 10+ points in my opinion BUT were still deserving to make the playoffs since they went undefeated at the P5 level.

In all, Florida State was missing its top two quarterbacks — Travis and Rodemaker — and six other offensive starters, plus eight starters on defense. The Seminoles only had 52 scholarship players dressed for the bowl game.

Coach is a fraud, who was carried by a weak schedule, improbable number of 5th/6th year players, and a handful of lucky bounces against terrible teams.
Very bizarre how so many here fail to see that. Last years playoff was probably the most entertaining all around product the CFP committee has ever delivered. Florida State would’ve been a doormat to all of those teams, just like the Iowa teams that have snaked their way into 11-12 wins.
