How does he go about getting a look at our facilities, campus, athletic offices, etc without setting off a fire storm? Maybe his family wants to see the area

Does he send his representatives and take their word?

Moving to a city without seeing it? Yes.

Buying a house without seeing it? No.

A lot of people get transferred at a job and move to a new city and then have to look around and find a place to live.

As far as a football coach goes, I'm sure after he takes the position, his wife will spend a month or two house hunting while the coach is living in a hotel.

As far as the facilities go , I believe that is what you would plan on Googling.

He could send a family member but it really isn't that tough for someone to fly in to Omaha anonymously and tour Lincoln without anybody finding out. Not many people know Mullen and it wouldn't be hard to disguise a person if you felt the need. A tougher thing would be for him to find time to do it during the season. My guess is that IF the person isn't familiar with the town and facilities that they would use virtual tours,and the multitude of community info sites etc available. Any more with virtual tours etc, you can get a pretty good picture of what you're getting in to without actually setting foot in Lincoln.

We use other private jets than Duncan Aviaton now. I know one owned by a booster friend of mine sitting at the Lincoln Airport that nobody would suspect.......

The University has a couple guys that let them use their planes. I know Hansen let's them use his plane sometimes.

I would imagine that the hiring party would provide plenty of media to a prospective candidate for them to see electronically. That and the private jets and full identity replacement hinted above for the in person visit.
