I guess this mildly surprised me as we haven't been relevant in cfb rankings for quite awhile. Must be other factors, like Lincoln is a safe family destination? Memorial Stadium is still thought to be one of the great cathedrals of cfb? The friendly nature of Husker Nation?

"According to Airbnb, it has seen a 25% increase in searches for rooms in Lincoln ahead of Saturday’s game, which is also Labor Day weekend.

Lincoln is one of the most popular college football destinations for renters, including cities such as Tallahassee, Eugene, and Knoxville.

The city has hundreds of Airbnb rentals, but almost all are booked for this weekend."

We have been burned so bad last 3 times we did airbnb i just don't know if i could ever do it again. One of those times was our honeymoon to a cool lil cabin in the woods in the Black Hills. Host literally accused us of stealing items from her cabin. Last one was a super shitty neighborhood in a 115 y/o home in DesMoines with sooo many probs I cant list em all. All I know is I was glad I had my pistol on that trip....glad others have had success with it though.

AirBnBs suck. Can’t wait until they are outlawed so “investors” have to go get real jobs 🤣

Yeah, this has become a huge thing now.

I have only done AirBnB once. It was okay. I suppose if you have a big group of people I can see where it would make sense but I would rather stay in a hotel.

not a fan of anything that contributes to home shortages or rising home costs for the average family, but i'm a huge fan of capitalism so I'll allow it :)

I wouldn’t call Florida socialist. We just don’t like our neighbors turning their properties into short term rentals. Get a real job Someday
What would you call greater government intervention telling you what you can and can’t do with your own property if not liberalism/fascism/socialism? Even if Florida is not a socialist state, that is absolutely a socialist component of it.

I own a specialty contracting business outside of my rentals that is very much a real job. 🛠️ 😎

Using government programs and 30 year mortgages meant for home owner-occupied for profit is not capitalism.

Meh....gray area. I see your point, but don't consider that a big enough deal to draw a line in the sand over. I've cut to many similar corners....and for the record, i'm not a fan of the vrbo's and air bnb's BTW, for the exact reasons you mention, and the reasons i mentioned, but i hate over regulation even more. If people want to take the risk, they deserve the reward, and I hope those doing it who have mortgages, get caught doing it or have a huge loss they aren't properly insured for and lose their ass.

People aren’t taking the risk though. Tax payers (government) are taking the risk since government is back-stopping these mortgages.

I'm not sure what i'm looking at? I also don't know if default rates are higher or lower for air b n b owners...i'd think much lower because of a myriad of reasons i won't bother listing...but shooting form the hip, should be much lower.

wait

do you think a country club telling guests to tuck their shirt in and take their hat off inside is liberalism/fascism/socialism?

same exact thing as a community telling its residents that renting their property is disallowed because it turns the neighborhood into an undesirable shithole.

People voting that they don’t want short-term slums in their neighborhoods is the exact opposite of socialism.

The real issue is very short term rentals such as 1-3 days where it turns into a party house with 50+ teens/college students partying their tails off...Cars/trash everywhere/and violence usually erupts

Yep there are rules everywhere in our society. Hell my cousin just moved into a neighborhood he has to keep his grass cut at a certain length and has to keep his house and any outlying buildings in a certain condition.

I bet he can’t keep goats and chickens in his own yard as well. What a racist and fascist place to live 🤣🤣

...don't even get me started on nazi bastard's commie loving fascist HOA's....of which I live in one.

I added a lean-to to the side of my house cause we can't have sheds so I literally made it look like part of the home, and my neighbors are so freaking cool they all helped me either physically or tool loan and not a one turned me in while I did it....and everyone knew what I was doing was completely illegal....so that was really cool of them IMO.

As much as people may gripe about HOA’s - the intention is to keep your neighborhood from looking like crap.

People agree to the rules when they move in and then complain about them after the fact.

I agree my cousin is actually pretty happy with this because the last place he lived ( I visited) I think he was the only one that actually took care of his property. So I think he looked for a place like this.
