How crazy is it that we are advocating paying 17/18 yo kids hundreds of thousands if not upwards of millions of dollars out of high school to play college sports? Is the reward really worth the risk? No guarantee that kid will be the difference maker in the program AND if I understand it correctly the money is guaranteed to the kid. I do not fault the kids at all but man, no way I could ever donate to something like that unless I had a big pile of money to burn. And even if that money donated was tax deductible, do we not have bigger problems that we can donate our money to? Homelessness, Veterans, Mental Health crisis etc.....^^^This^^^. In this new era of college football we all tend to ignore the elephant in the living room: Money. His decommitment could be as simple as that. We are going to have to seriously upgrade our NIL offers or we are going to be left in the dust. Some on here keep claiming that we do offer a lot of NIL money. But I do not see us showing up on any of the top NIL lists. Perhaps I am wrong about that. But we are going to have to pay for the blue chip guys that everybody else wants to. And we better be able to pay well...
This whole thing is crazy, that's my rant.
