Apparently you haven't had kids in school that took algebra then! lol
My 3rd grade girls are already learning shapes and angles in school and I help them with that stuff all I can. I am a nerd and actually liked math in high school.
I just helped my niece with her geometry homework about a month ago.
I farm and was trying to figure out a yield on a field based off the yield that the combine showed vs the yield we ended up with at the elevator where we had two different seeds. One seed was planted on 158 acres and the other was planted on 68 acres or so. Well, we got 17,500 bushels total and I knew the combine's harvest monitor numbers for each type of seed.
I seriously ended up writing out a formula on paper to solve for X...
It took me at least 15 minutes, but I figured out what the actual yield was for each hybrid so I could give the information to my Channel Seed dealer.
Since high school, I have probably used actual algebra on paper just a handful of times. I have used math almost every day in my life. I have used geometry quite a few times, especially when I was building a large building for my dad last year.
