KJJ Announcing...

KJJ was just on periscope and talked about NE 80% of the time. Said he didn't have his mind made up, but raved on HCMR and Coach Williams. He N. I'm also not proud I watched a periscope video for this information.

NO MATTER where he goes; he has had a very positive effect on Nebraska. As several astute posters have said, he and his friends could be paid marketers; they know social media and create very positive vibes. They have already brought us commits in two classes. Its a huge decision for them; and one can only guess on the pressures, positive and otherwise. .. He will have a positive effect wherever he goes; I really hope its here, I think he could be a great coach someday - N is perfect for him. GBR

I like our chances on this one. I feel like this could be the start to a great recruiting class.
" If you ain't first your last" GBR!!!!

This has the writing on the wall for N. KJJ brings tools to obviously be great at the next level, and boy him in red would make it so damn sweet.

Obviously he wants to get his commitment out of the way so he can focus on "Batman v Superman" coming out 2 days later, duh.

Just curious, why the OU logo seems really odd for a Husker fan?

Not trying to rain on anything here but that was a great post all the way up to the "I think he could be a great coach someday". And I thought we were jumping the gun on just assuming he's committed to Lincoln! Winking

Simply put they are in a different conference now; coaches Barry and Tom have nurtured a special relationship that has carried over with many fans. We are former Royalty/ warriors, however you would describe it - and show and appreciate the greatness of the teams and fan bases and our shared history.

I know he said he wanted to visit his final 5 again, does him committing next week cut out him missing any of those schools? I don't remember him trekking back to Bama or Clemson.

Wasn't replying to you, was looking for IROOT4NU but I get your point, I have made many great trips to Norman for games where the fans treated us awesome! Great respect between the teams and fans IMO, however that would never lead me to putting an OU logo as my avatar.

I realize Switzer is a charismatic guy and on the surface very likable ... but what I don't get is all the love the guy gets from Husker nation and the college football community at large

He was one of the biggest cheats in all of college football, ran a renegade program, got fired, got the program on probation and the death penalty for the program was actually brought up after the allegations.

Much of his and OU's success came at the expense of TO and Nebraska. What would Nebraksa's and TO's win % looked like, how many more conf titles and potential national titles would Neb have had if the playing field was level.

The guy was dirty and every bit the cheat that people label Calipari, Petino, Schnellenberger, Petrino etc as - yet he is revered.

OU's program aside from the Switzer years has a long history of NCAA violations and is one of the most sanctioned football programs ever.

I don't get all the love and adoration

You think Nebraska was 100% squeaky clean during TO's era? I think OU was by far the bigger cheat, but saying "our sins weren't as big of a deal as the other guy's sin" is something I've always struggled with. You think there weren't some steroids and hidden failed drug tests and hundred dollar handshakes and police investigation's thwarted by NU back in the day? Just to name a few.

How dare you!

No way was NU squeaky clean but programs like OU took it to another level (they flaunted it - fur coats, guns etc etc)- it takes a heck of a lot to land yourself on probation time and time and time again. All programs are bending the rules to some degree but as long as you remain "in the pack" there is a very high probability you aren't going to get popped. You have to try extra hard, be extra stupid and/or extra arrogant to get your program whacked like Switzer did.

I suspect Neb operates within the meaty portion of the bell curve when it comes to cheating in major college footbal

And the thread is back on track. Another site said that he is headed to OSU for a final visit. I'm not sure of the validity of that.

I worked out with a very famous ex-Husker who is frequently talked about on this board, and two or three not as famous players (though you'd know them) for a few years in the early 2000's. I'm telling you right now NU was dirtier than you are giving them credit for. Higher class of dirt maybe, but probably dirtier than you'd care to admit. Plus, I'm a nobody, I guarantee you there are posters on this board who know waaaay more about this stuff than I do. OU just wasn't afraid to flaunt it.

Was waiting for iroot4nu, but last year some time he said it was out of respect for his dad, a huge OU fan. He is a husker fan, just shouting out to his dad.

At least that's what I remember.

"Everyone, thanks for coming. It's been a long recruiting process, and I'm ready to reveal my commitment. After much decision and prayer, I am announcing my firm commitment to take all my visits and weigh all options in 2016 before making my decision on signing day, 2017."

I think he's going to verbally commit to Nebraska, but his recruitment will continue all the way until Signing Day. It really wouldn't surprise me to see him take all of his official visits and at some point, I think his commitment to NU is really going to be tested. Nebraska will need to have a good year in order to get him to ultimately sign.

Dez was diff from the start, he had already broken his word with UL.

Dez didn't honor his silent commitment to Nebraska and the coaching staff was left scrambling in the end.

Nebraska is going to need to continue to recruit KJJ with maximum effort/resources until his signature is faxed in. We have had "many" recruits over the years that were supposedly "solid" and then change their mind.

I believe that the odds are good that he will honor the commitment given the relationship with his father and Coach Riley. However, this is 2016 and we both know that not all players/parents understand the meaning of a commitment these days. I am hoping we get his commitment and "signature" next February. Winking

I get what you're saying and I'm in the know on this stuff, too...but I really think you underestimate OU during Switzers era. And it's not more than I'd care to admit, as every school would have and does have dirt.
I'm not trying to argue just my .02
Switzerland was a winner. At all costs. Literally.

If he commits, other schools won't want him to visit, because he's going to be recruiting for us during the visits.

I swear a few months back there was some chatter about him possibly being an early enrollee, (December Grad). That's the main reason why he wants to commit so early. I could be wrong though, I know McQuitty is planning on enrolling early.
