Jake Peetz Is Currently Operating the NFL's Top Passing Offense

There were rumors back then that him taking a position on the staff was contingent on Mickey Joseph being retained. Wonder how much things might be different today offensively if Mickey's domestic incident had not occurred and both of those guys were with Rhule at NU from day 1.

What is Peetz current role/title? His offense at LSU was pretty bad the season he was their OC.

I remember Peetz was supposed to be on board as QB Coach. But he has a bunch of kids and was weary of all the time on the road recruiting. So he said he would come if Mickey stuck around, because they were close and he and Mickey had a deal where Mickey would do the heavy lifting recruiting.

didn't want to work for Rhule/Satt

likely not a decision he's regretting
Wrong on both accounts. Pretty typical of you. First of all his wife didn’t want to move because of the kids situation.and second he is not calling plays so he is not on control of any play calling.

So you think he’s regretting his decision?

And that the passing game coordinator has nothing to do with the passing game?

Pretty typical of you.

He wanted to come back to Nebraska. His wife didn’t and things got messy with Mickey. It’s water under the bridge. I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make. It wasn’t because he didn’t want to work for Rhule.

She didn’t want to leave the west coast.
I don’t know how it works in other households, but when there’s an opportunity we perceive as a vertical move that’s best for our family, my wife gets on board.

Working under Rhule/satt was obviously not that for the Peetzes.

It was in fact a horizontal move professionally but he wanted to come back and I believe he viewed working for Rhule as a step to become a head coach. You’re spinning the situation for what end I’m not sure.

if he wanted to, he would have.

he didn't.

working for Rhule isn't a step toward being a head coach (I don't believe he's ever produced a D1 head coach from his staff), it's a step toward being laughed out of football entirely.

there's no faster route (literally) to becoming a coach of consequence than working for Sean McVay.

There is that about working for McVay but yet he’s still not an OC. He’s not calling plays so crediting him for Seattle’s offensive production seems like a stretch. You’re saying he decided he didn’t want to work for Rhule and that simply wasn’t true. Hindsight might be correct that he was better off staying where he was at but that’s a different point.

he had an opportunity to work for Rhule and said "thanks but no thanks".

not really sure how else that decision can possibly categorized.

when somebody turns down a job, they're making a decision not to work for the person trying to hire them.
I turned down a job my first year out of professional school because of my family situation. I had interned with a group and a few months after I started a job elsewhere the group I had interned with offered me a full partnership with no buy in. In 2 months as an intern I had made them so much money that they were willing to do that. The timing was just wrong with my wife’s situation.

You’re trying to put as negative of a light on Rhule as you can.

this is exactly what I'm talking about

your wife's opportunity to become an MD was more important than what you may have wanted at the time.

your wife is Peetz in this situation.
