J. Lawrence leaving

Would be a shame if Lawrence left, in my opinion. He mostly deferred to others when it came to shooting, but next year he would get a lot more scoring opportunities. Combine that with his defense and his ability to get out on a fast break, and you have a really valuable player.

Better get used to it. Most programs are going to be building entirely new teams every year.
If you want to compete at high level you have to fill up on good experienced guys. There is no time to build up underclassmen in the power 2 conference programs.

Why even bother recruiting high school kids? Just poaching the Summit league and other non P6 leagues will get you a decent roster

Pretty much. The non-P6 leagues are now effectively a Minor League farm system.

Even the project players out of high school, like Matar Drop, enter the portal after one year. Dotzler from Creighton went into the portal today too. There is no more "developing" players at this level. It seems like anyone who doesn't play a whole lot right away will transfer.

Sad part is you could be your teams leading scorer and get poached by a kansas, Duke ect...

Hope the action of the acting admin twins to extend Fred with a big raise before the new AD and Prez were hired proves to be a smart move. We will soon see if this year’s success was a one-year fluke.

I'm waiting for an entire starting lineup to be recruited to join a P5 program. I heard it predicted to happen in volleyball but it may happen in basketball first.

Now I've seen it all if a Dotzler is transferring from Creighton.

It will be hard to field a consistent winner in the B1G if the roster is assembled de novo each year. Lawrence averaged over 20 minutes per game.

All 5 of Duke’s starters began their career there

The best teams will still build their rosters from the HS level and then address roster needs yearly with high end transfers selected to add more specific strengths. Teams that compete consistently in their conference will do the same.
