There are some assumptions being made off of things that have happened and more questions than answers but I think it is a fair question at this time.
College football is so much mental and desire.Are we lacking that amongst some of our starters? Is that why the 5 star heart walk ons keep showing up on the roster as they are beating guys out with more ability because their dedication and desire are greater? Is this a trend or bad recruiting or just an abnormality or what is it?
Where are the Incognito type mean SOB's!
Lets look at what has happened with several of the major contributors in the last months.
Decker took time away from the team for and was considering quitting football "personal reasons"
Gates had his mental depression issues after the bowl game-It was reported here he also considered giving it up.
Kneval- always has appeared soft
Brokop? Didn't even make the 105 this fall Why ??Was it in his head because he sure seemed to have the ability???
Raridon ???
Gaylord-Barnett-Underachieving their athletic ability for some reason when true freshman are burning redshirts possibly to play in front of them.
Conrad probably doesn't have the athletic ability of some others but his head seems in the right place.
Farinok Needs another year. Probably too young to be a leader of this group but his confidence has to be shaken after this week
Farmer Foster and Wilson seem like alpha males to the distant eye but are they leading the other guys or are they following? I do not pretend to know.
Is it coaching?
Is it throwing kids in before they are physically ready as they get whipped on by more mature and experienced competition destroying their confidence?
Is it lack of confidence and confusion in who their responsibilities are as blocking schemes change with every new system?
Is it all the above? If so will a coaching change on the OL right the ship? Something has to change. These kids need to wake up and realize they are playing for Cav's job and possibly Eichorst's and HCMR's also but do they care or are they going through the motions of enjoying the college life?
IMO Desire and leadership are severely lacking in this group right now. They badly need that Sr. Alpha leader that demands respect. Unfortunately he is not there.
