Is Monday going to be the day?

That's the QB that's going to bring us back? A no star with 1 other offer?
Sounds like Josh Allen and Trey Lance coming out of high school. Lance’s only D1 offer as a QB was NDSU. I’m done buying the hype on QBs. Joe Ganz had zero D1 offers for football and that 2 star recruit was probably Callahans most talented QB recruit. Zac Taylor was a better QB but much of that was between the ears. Ganz had a better arm IMO. Gimme a gamer.

This is urban legend and Rhule is taking a lot of credit for the work of others. Temple was a 2 win team for 20 years and Al Golden turned them around. They had a down year and Rhule brought them back up. Same with Baylor, they were terrible and Briles made them a contender. They had the sexual assault scandal and then Jim Grobe helped stabalize things before Rhule came in.

Both teams had established a recent history of success and culture less than 3 years that he brought them back to. We are an entirely different animal.

Nonsense.

He took Temple to heights they have never been. They finished in the Top 25, won a conference title for the first time in 47 years, and beat Penn State for the first time in 61 years.

He also took over a Baylor team in shambles. They were in no way "stabilized", they only had 45 scholarship players.

here's the QB - Mickey just offered him (first D1 offer)

as I've said many times - in college football, you want to be at the top or the bottom

think any of the teams in the middle are having this much fun?

If this was true, it would mean Mickey knows Ruhle is going to be the coach, is evaluating players with him, and plans to stay on staff.

FWIW. Callahan said on TOS that this offer is non-committable and was done as a favor to the kid and his HS, who is a friend of Mickey's.

It was a hot steaming mess

Now we're cooking. Rhule hasn't even met the team but he knows his quarterback isn't currently on the roster.

I was at Purdue doing my undergrad. I wore my Nebraska hat nearly every day. One day two girls approached me and said, “are you a Nebraska fan?” Of course I was. She then said that Joe was her boyfriend and I think they were both from Illinois? It was close to 15 or so years ago so I can’t remember too many details.

Joe was a gamer.

Highlight reels are of very little value in evaluating a high school kid's potential to play D1 ball. They are designed to be a kind of video audition for the kid just to give coaches something to look at and to get a sense of his ability. But a coach has to talk to the kid's coach and watch whole game film on him to get the full picture. These kinds of videos only show us the best plays. They don't show us if for every long ball he successfully completes he tosses ten incompletions and two interceptions. They also don't show us how he is at reading defenses, how he handles pressure, and if he can lead a team.

And if the new coach is Rhule then so be it. There is no slam dunk hire short of Saban or Meyer or if you could lure Bob Stoops out of retirement. And of the guys who have been mentioned he is probably one of the better options.

Sounds like the offer was a favor to get the kid noticed. Lots of raw arm talent and apparently no recruiting services have even looked at him.

is anyone else worried that he's only coached at places wrought with sexual scandal?

temple (most famous alum is bill cosby - yikes!)
baylor (whole team basically accused of sexual assault every few years)
carolina (previous owner forced to sell the team bc of sexual assault)

Nebraska joining the B1G is as close as we've come to a sexual abuse scandal

cause for concern? culture/fit issues coming to a non-sexual abusing institution?

Seems pretty good coming in to bad situations and fixing them

Except Temple wasn’t involved in Jello Pop’s escapades, and Rhule was never part of the others.

And he played at Penn State when Sandusky was a coach there. Sandusky was his DC/LB Coach.
