Iowa

No. But should be a close game. Good defense. Decent oline and RB. The rest of the skill positions including QB are not very good. Once Stanley got heat he was super average or worse "Tanner Lee like".

They may have peaked. I never fear them. GBR

So we can fully expect to beat them this year correct?
Is your role to make sure we don’t flame Iowa on our own board? Really? This isn’t the first thread you are calling people out in.

As long as Iowa fan is over here disrespectfully (and most have been) I see no problem with taking shots at Iowa while they’re down.

I am NOT calling people out for calling out Iowa.
I am asking, since Iowa is shitty and sucks, can we expect to beat them this year? Because I don't want to have what happened last year, where those who said they thought Iowa should not have run a train on us weren't real fans, idiots, blohards, etc.
So Tim, let me ask you now instead of waiting until after the game to see what happens: can we expect to beat Iowa this year? The question is not rhetorical.

The question is also immaterial. It doesn’t matter if we win or lose to Iowa, because if you haven’t noticed, we aren’t exactly world beaters either.

That doesn’t mean we can’t ride Iowa hard right now for their 0-2 start... can you imagine how many Iowa fans would be here right now if the roles were reversed and we were 0-2 and they were 2-0?

Just cut the crap and let husker fans have some fun while we can. It may be the only chance we get this year.

Stop.
Stop putting words into my mouth.
For years we have heard that Iowa sucks. Guess what Tim? I AGREE. THEY SUCK ASS AND DID LAST YEAR TOO.
So can we expect to beat them this year? And yes it does matter.
Your avoidance of the question makes me believe you want to take the "ask me after the game" approach and make excuses for a loss.
(You haven't done that this year, I'll give you credit for that.)

And by the way, I never said you called anybody out. I wondered why you are acting like we shouldn’t have some fun at Iowa fan’s expense.

Have fun! My buddy and I cheered when they were losing.
And say the following with me: Nebraska should absolutely beat Iowa this year.

No, I didn’t answer because I have no frickin’ idea. We could go down in flames the rest of the season. Or last night could have been the beginning of a turnaround.

Is our defense legit, or do they just look good against bad teams? Is our OLine coming along or did they exert their will against some bad teams these last 2 games? We will know a whole lot more after next week in my opinion.

Not trying to duck your question, I honestly don’t know what to expect. Ask me after next game and I will give you an answer.

I'm all for discussion but it would be awesome if Nebraska fans wouldn't take the bait of these "disrespectful Iowa fans" over here on this board. If you think your program is different and you then take time to troll or troll in kind with a program like Iowa go for it I guess.
But, this is a program that is OK with keeping a coach with 4 and 6 win seasons on a semi regular basis.
Nebraska fans just like the team would do well to focus on themselves. We shouldn't even have any stones to throw losing to the likes of Northern Illinois this year. To each their own, but my take is that Nebraska fans should take some self inventory before posting garbage like the OP and trolling in kind with Iowa trolls.
Are we this distracted with a 2 loss Iowa team that we can't get going for Wisconsin week? You care about what you spend your time on. Nebraska fans on this board spend way to much time punching the letters I-O-W-A on their keyboard for my taste

I am looking at it differently than you.
I believe you are looking at it as "do I predict Nebraska will beat Iowa?"
That's not what I'm asking.
I'm asking, in year three of this staffs tenure, at Nebraska, should we as fans expect to beat this Iowa team? I'd say absolutely yes we should expect that.
(And we still could....our defense will keep us in it this year no matter what btw.)
My question is asked because I'm tired of the same old Iowa sucks talk, then they take us to the woodshed, then we make excuses after we lose and call fans who expect us to beat Iowa not true fans. I just want to make it clear before the game this year as to whether or not we are allowed to expect to beat Iowa by now.
But yes Iowa does suck and their fans are almost as bad as miserys.....almost.

Iowa will probably physically embarrass our “finesse” team. But you’re right, they are not that great.
The defense we saw yesterday was NOT finesse.
If we bring a similar scheme, tenacity, and our d line keeps improving it will be a nasty game.

All good points. And I wish I was more confident but this coaching staff has me second guessing everything. You are right, we should expect to beat Iowa in year three. No ifs about it. And if we don’t, that’s another nail in riley’s coffin.

To your point, absolutely we should be beating Iowa.

You should feel more confident today than you did Thursday at least.

I just hope we beat Minnesota, Purdue, Northwestern and get lucky with one of the 3 big teams before we play Iowa. This team or the fanbase shouldn't be looking ahead based on the first 5 games of the season. Winking

Again, not talking predictions, but expectations.

I am living in reality right now and but maybe trending towards a dream scenario with my "hopes" heading into Iowa. Winking
Still don't think we are talking about the same thing but it doesn't matter.
I too hope we can take care of Purdue nw ninny and another big one at least as you said heading into Iowa.
What I'm saying is I expect Nebraska to beat a team like Iowa in year three of a coaches tenure.

I would expect a coach in year three at Nebraska to be competing and beating almost every team on their schedule let alone Iowa. However, those days are long gone. :(

Iowa lost two in a row to some solid teams. They gave PSU all they could handle. And MSU, though it has issues, is a team with some talent.

We inched by Rutgers and beat hapless Illinois and we are crowing over our superiority over Iowa?

Let's keep our mouths shut until we beat those nitwits in Lincoln.

Iowa still sucks though

Not happy about anyone stealing my thunder, but I couldn't have said it better myself.

Iowa sucks.
Let it be known:
Pelinithecrutch was the first poster to begin the Iowa Sucks trend that has been often imitated, but never duplicated, on the board. No one drops it at the most opportune moments like the crutch does. Most jump the gun too soon for the full impact.
Every time someone jumps in and says it I think of the crutch.

Don't know if we will beat Iowa, Minnesota, NW, Wisconsin or not, but Yesterday's games really didn't do much to strike absolute fear into me.

I hear you. But I think what would be more accurate to say is that you think our program should be in better shape than Iowa's program by now. That the expectation should be that we'd win that game. As for the reality of any individual game, losing to Iowa could happen to any coach regardless of how far into his tenure he is. Any given Saturday and all that jazz.

crutch reminds me of the rock where he asks a question and then interrupts with "it doesn't matter .....". you start talking about iowa and then once the conversation starts, drop in that iowa sucks and then the thread is over.

I remember 2012 when Iowa started 2-0 in the conference. Finished 4-8 overall.

My (biased) two cents is that Nebraska is not a good team. They beat Rutgers at home by 10 while OSU beat them by 56. Illinois is the 2nd worst team in the conference and 28-6 isn't exactly handling them like a good team would.

Nebraska could win one more game the rest of the year or steal one like MSU in 2015 and win 2-3 more. Quite frankly, I don't think Nebraska stays within two scores of three remaining opponents.

My (biased) two cents on Iowa is that the defense is amazing considering how many times their backs have been against the wall. Giving up 17 points each of the last two games with how horrible Iowa has punted and played offense is remarkable. Which means Iowa will be in every game until the fourth quarter.

As bad as that game looked, they fumbled on a weird play at the MSU five and fumbled again getting into FG range in the 2nd half. Still had a chance to win on the road because of the defense.

I do think Iowa is the overall better team and will finish the conference with the same or better record than Nebraska even with a tougher schedule. (Black Friday could determine that).

So there is my two cents which is probably worth less than that.

I never get this. What are the talent advantages?
Just going off of recruiting rankings. If we were apart by 5 places or less, it would be a wash to me. The gap between the two schools in recruiting is closer to 15-20 places, if memory serves me correctly, which suggests we have better talent.
