Iowa QB in portal

The LSU team was loaded and we didn’t have a Chase Brown or Jefferson catching passes for us either…

Joe made the correct decision and that LSU team was as good as any in college football history..

stop this nonsense..
You talkin to me?
Am I capturing this? Are you suggesting that Burrow was just fortunate to get into a situation where he ended up winning every major trophy, a national championship, consensus All-American etc.
Then, he was the first pick in the first round of the draft. Maybe those pro scouts were fooled.
Except, his career completion percentage is better than anyone in NFL history.

I can't believe this is even being discussed seriously at this point.

Heinrich Haarberg has only 6 games under his belt. He is our guy right now. Get him healthy and plug him back in. Only 1 game to win for the bowl. He can still manage the game and run the ball. Need more creativity with the option and better blocking up front.
He's injured so we might see Sims/Purdy.

At the time what evidence was there to suggest that Joe was better?

I wonder if adrian had the athletes surrounding him at LSU how his career would have turned out.
Actually those couple of drives he lead in mop up duty against us were very impressive. I couldn’t believe he wasn’t their starter.

This x 1,000.

beating a dead horse wtf GIF
We saw the evidence of that when he played behind a much better OL at Kansas State. He still had his head scratching moments, but overall looked much better.

1st round draft national champion Heisman winner? No better?

After LSU, not before. Couldn't climb the depth chart at OSU. He hit the right place at the right time. Would have been at bust at NU. Easy to look at the end of his career and make the call your making.

He wouldn’t have been what he was at LSU here but to say he would have been a bust as he throws for 350 this week in the NFL is just being disingenuous. Obviously it’s easier to judge in hindsight but come on

At that time I suppose you were telling us all that AM was gonna be average at best and Joe was gonna catch lightning in a bottle?
Being a top 10 NFL QB is a bit more than lightening in a bottle. You are suggesting the Joe is a product of the LSU talent around him and that AM could’ve done the same in his situation? I’ll just say that I disagree since there is no way to prove that AM wouldn’t have turned into Joe Burrow at LSU.

You do realize he was younger at Ohio St. playing behind J. T. Barrett and Dwayhe Haskins? Kind of hard to outpace more experienced guys of that regard.

Burrow was a Husker legacy, twice wanting to come here. Maybe his dad (my junior high gym student teacher) wisely steered him away from the two dunkoff head coaches at the time. If so, good move.
If the suggestion is that Burrow might have been ruined here to due the spectacular ineptness of our head coaches I can see that.

That's the way the story ended up. I don't kbow for sure if it would have gone quite the same if Frost would've brought him in. One thing that is absolutely true, Frost should've brought him in.

I'm suggesting that situations and surroundings matter.

He couldn't climb the OSU depth chart due to his QB coach -- the same guy who didn't want him in Lincoln out of high school and the same guy who caused Joe and his family to devise a plan for him to accelerate his graduation and go somewhere else with two years to play. No matter what Joe did at OSU, he was never going to play for Tim Beck.
