CJ BeathardThere’s a more recent guy. I’ll have to look up his name. Every time I saw him on a roster I was surprised.

Only a Clarkeye fan would know that one.CJ Beathard
CJ Beathard, Nate Stanley currently. Two guys who weren’t great college QBs but stick around. Beathard I think started some games for the Niners a couple of years ago? Kind of perfect example. Very average college QB who has cashed a lot of checks in the NFL. You want to know how Kirk wins games? They had 37 alums on NFL rosters this year. He’s done way less with the talent he’s had than I can imagine and no it wasn’t just development. It’s physical talent. His classes aren’t super deep in that kind of physical talent but most years he finds enough guys to put 22 talented starters on the field. All that takes is a 20-25% hit rate on recruits.Who else besides Ricki Stanzi?
Drew Tate, Brad Banks and Stanzi are the three best QB Ferentz had.
Beat me to it.CJ Beathard
Wasn’t it Beathard? There’s a more recent guy. I’ll have to look up his name. Every time I saw him on a roster I was surprised.
I expected him to go to a B1G program and Iowa has the most obvious need for a QB. Visits for transfers are often just confirmatory for a transfer. He’s been on Iowa’s campus before. I think he’s played in their stadium.I have seen him play. He's a good FCS quarterback. There's probably a reason why he only took one visit and that was to Iowa. Doesn't seem like too many FBS teams were knocking on his door, except for the team with the 130th ranked passing offense. Seems like Iowa found themselves in a bidding war with themselves.
ening isn’t it🤮dingle, I’m fully aware they of how many players they have in the NFL, my herky buddy reminded me of that last night..
He even admits that they haven’t had a quality QB in quite sometime.

Too be fair, their offense wasn't always crappy. Only when Kirk's son took over did that happen, which he continued to let happen until their AD had to get involved. Again, I don't think this guy is a game changer for them, especially with what they have coming back and bringing in. If they truly wanted to upgrade that position they would've been going balls out for a guy like Air Noland. I have a hard time believing Iowa couldn't beat out S.C. The thing is Iowa kind of sat around and waited for the cheapest quality QB left on the market. I would be shocked if Iowa wins 8 or more games next season with him as their starter.Ridicule Ferentz and Iowa all we want. Their crappy offense has put a few QBs in the NFL. Gronowski is an upgrade for them.
The question is though why would Air Noland want to play for Kirk? Gronowski is closer to home and knows he fits their offense. It’s an easy drive from Naperville ILL to Iowa City. Hell he might have grown up a Hawk fan.Too be fair, their offense wasn't always crappy. The decline of Iowa’s offense is directly related to the decline of its offensive line. Once JR stopped coaching the OL in order to be the OC, the offense tanked.Too be fair, their offense wasn't always crappy. They just need a guy who makes good decisions, is somewhat mobile, and has a reasonably accurate arm. I’m a little bit surprised Gronowski didn’t enter the draft given how weak this draft class of QBs is. I think he could have been drafted.Saying a QB is a good fit in Iowa’s offense, sounds like an insult.
While this is true, it is always entertaining to watch hawkkkeye fans get excited in the off season only to come crashing back to reality during the season. We need to stop hoping that the teams around us get worse and start worrying instead about us getting better.

According to the majority of Iowa fans, this past season was CFP or bust, of course they went bust.
Iowa has only played in only 2-3 nationally relevant games in 60 plus years and did not win any of them. The Hawkkkeyes have not finished in the top 5 in 60 plus years as well.
I have been waiting my entire life to congratulate an Iowa fan for the Hawkeyes finally living up to Iowa fan hype and I’m in my mid 50s. Lol…
Nah, no Iowa fan younger than 70 can remember the Hawkeyes being a top 5 team. No Iowa fan has ever witnessed Iowa consistently winning conference championships and playing in nationally relevant games in January. No Iowa fan has ever watched Iowa win a conference championship game."While this is true, it is always entertaining to watch hawkkkeye fans get excited in the off season only to come crashing back to reality during the season."
You mean like Husker fans over the past 10 years??
If I were them, I would have went after Montana St.'s QB. A real dual-threat and runs a 4.3 - 4.4. He was impressive in the FCS championship.Ridicule Ferentz and Iowa all we want. Their crappy offense has put a few QBs in the NFL. Gronowski is an upgrade for them.
