Hey guys, Gregg and I are just leaving Bradenton, Fla. heading back to Tampa following IMG Academy's 21-0 win over Miami Northwestern.
Here's a few nuggets from the game.
***As usual, Bookie played a really good game. I've been lucky enough to see him compete at several games and camps now over the last few years and he always impresses. He's probably one of the most consistent recruits that I've ever covered in that regard. Always at the top of his game and bringing it.
***Bookie is still very much committed to Nebraska, but will take other trips with his mom. He's talked about it with Mike Riley, Donte Williams and the staff and they all know his full plans and are good with it. He committed early and has worked awful hard to get to where he is and wants to take the trips that he's earned.
***Bookie wil be taking his official visit to Nebraska this weekend for the Wisconsin game.
***Oklahoma RB commit TJ Pledger and Miami WR commit Brian Hightower will also be taking official visits to Nebraska this weekend along with Bookie.
***Nebraska WR coach Keith Williams and CB coach Donte Williams were both at the game tonight for Bookie as well as Pledger, Hightower and Houston Griffith. I also noticed coaches from Miami and Oklahoma at the game.
***DB Houston Griffith plans to take an official visit to Nebraska, but since his dad works every Saturday for the Big Ten Network the official visit will have to take place after the season is over that way both of his parents can be on the trip with him at the same time.
***IMG is pretty incredible. The campus is really nice and tonight was by far the most talent I've ever seen on the field at one time. The size and speed of their team is on a different level. Almost like a small college team. Some of the plays and hits tonight are things I might usually only see a couple times a year, but we're happening on almost every possession tonight.
***Overall, it was an extremely sloppy game. TONS of penalties. I think some of it can be attributted to the fact that both of these teams have missed a lot of time practicing and playing together because of the storms. Also, some of it is because you've got 11 alpha dogs on each side of the ball trying to make plays and earn their keep.
***More to come from tonight's game soon.
