I'm stunned

so beating Nebraska in Lincoln was not a win against a real team? Nice back handed swipe at the team you root for!

beating Wisconsin in Madison was not a win against a real team?

beating Northwestern at Evanston was not a win against a real team?

Iowa was living a lie all year and it caught up to them and they were exposed. B1G west is embarrassingly poor. But hey they had the B1G coach of the year lol.

I think the Northwestern victory over Stanford gave the false impression that the West was better than it was. Michigan State playing down to their competition also led them to believe that they could hang with the big boys. In reality, MSU was extremely lucky against Michigan and tOSU had a massive brain fart against MSU. Iowa thought that by playing a close game against an MSU team that had been living on the edge all season that they were somehow validated for beating absolutely nobody all year.

Too bad tOSU didn't make it to the Championship game as it likely would have been a replay of the 2014 Championship game against Wisconsin.

i don't believe any of NW, Wisky, or us to be a top 25 team, so no, they don't count as real teams.

you guys are delusional; you act like going 12-0 was all by luck; why don't you give Iowa any credit? you are acting like childish little brothers.

and why don't you give Michigan state any credit? they went to Ohio State and won; they won at Michigan, too. They beat Oregon at home.

Michigan State had a bad game in their bowl game

Iowa had a bad game in their bowl game, too.

Nebraska ended their season with a losing record, even though they won their low tier bowl game, where no one outside of the state of Nebraska cared.

MSU was lucky to survive against Michigan. OSU's coaches gave them the game in Columbus. Iowa played nobody. You guys were outplayed by the worst Nebraska team in years.

Nuff said.

ok maybe some are down playing 12 wins some. I agree it's a great season.
But Iowa played a weak ass schedule. I am a husker fan but a win against a team six other teams beat is not a quality win. Bangers didn't have a great year. The win against NW was impressive at the time. Plus I'm not comparing your schedule to N. I'm comparing it to the other top ten teams. The fact is nice season you deserve credit. You beat my favorite team you deserve credit. But a top ten team you weren't. So good luck next year. You get to prove it was or wasn't a fluke. GBR

So, Nebraska is a "nobody." Your words not mine. As in "nobody" cares about Nebraska football outside the state of Nebraska? As in no longer relevant when it comes to winning championships on any level? Do think Nebraska will ever escape its "nobody" status so that beating Nebraska actually means something?

This "nobody" topic is quite interesting.

Once again Iowa fan can do nothing to defend his own team. Just bring down the team they could never be. Even in a down year the outlook for N is better long term than the yard birds

so you think Nebraska is a nobody, too? I guess 16 years without a conference championship makes you a nobody. And you think your future looks bright? Seriously? No, really. Seriously you think your future looks bright? Based on what?

Again I'm not playing your childish game.
I think the new coach has the program going in the right direction. It's my opinion.
You be nasty all you want and nothing is going to change the fact you had a great season and nobody cares about either of our teams right now.

I guess ill base it on recruiting. You 12 wins. Us 6. Us beating you again in recruiting. What happens when N has a good year. These coaches have a chance at least. Again I'm not bashing you or Iowa. Facts are facts.

Trust me, Iowa is an afterthought in the college football world. In fact, when it became apparent that Iowa had a chance to be undefeated due to their extremely easy schedule, most pundits questioned whether Iowa should be included in any playoff discussion. It reminded me of when Hawaii made a BCS bowl and everyone knew how it would turn out. This is because Iowa is a nobody. BTW - the pundits were right.

Speaking of championships, what championships did Iowa win in their one of their best seasons in school history?

While Nebraska hasn't been elite in 15 years, they are still a measly 5-2 against Kirk. Nebraskas history, tradition, accomplishments and relevance all dwarf Iowa despite Iowa's dream season (2 losses).

I think that anyone that watched one of the historically best Iowa teams play one of the historically worst Nebraska teams expected to see a better showing from Iowa. Most teams would turn 4 unforced turnovers into a blowout win but since Iowa is so awesome they decided to squeak by. Nebraska fans know what an elite team look like and Iowa isn't even close.

Oh well, maybe next time the 2 big dogs in the West are in a coaching transition and you get to play 2 cellar dwellars in cross over games, you can ride the easy schedule into another 2 loss season. Until then, enjoy the perennial 7-5.

12-0 was not all luck. Some of us gave Iowa credit, but there was always doubt. There was plenty of reasons to doubt how legit your team was in comparison to the handful of elite teams.

Things bounced your way a lot. But sorry Hawkie, some of us have seen elite teams o er the years and Iowa this year ain't one. Nebraska had many seasons where it was a paper tiger, and like some of those teams, Iowa got shredded.

You can go undefeated and still not be an elite team. BYU went 11-0 in 84, but is still the least deserving national championship team ever.

Sparty, they were almost your mirror image. They got DAMN lucky to beat Michigan. They were less than impressive in numerous games.

As far as us acting childish little brothers, well you are acting like a bully who finally got his ass kicked, and now you are lurking other teams boards trying to get your manhood back to feel better about yourself.

So much LOL in this thread. Thank you for being a part of our weak schedule. Keep hanging your hat on recruiting rankings.

You will see next year. You will see. By the way we are not the ones on a yard bird sight you are on ours. So who cares about who?

Exactly what has Riley done this year or the last 20 years that gives unL a better outlook? Tommy Armstrong? Nate Geary? Exactly when was the last time unL won 12 games? by the way "scoreboard."

Again who is on who's sight. Because you care more about us then us you. Wow you won this year. And who won last year. This year 22 first downs to 11. Twice as many yards. You may have won but we can fix 4 turn overs you can't fix being out played by a 5 and 7 team.

By the way score board. 29-14 all time. N won six of last 8.

From an outside perspective, there are 7 B1G programs currently better than the one in Lincoln.

It reads like this:

OSU
MSU
Wisconsin
Iowa
Michigan
Northwestern
Penn State
Not sure what this has to do with this thread? And everyone is due their opinion.

Exactly what has "New Kirk" done? The only thing that matters is National titles, and neither team has any. Both fan bases should shut up until they win anything of significance. As great as Iowa's season was they didn't win s#$^. Nebraska has not sniffed it either.

Iowa's best team in school history just got thoroughly embarrassed. Literally once in a lifetime season and you end it with your tail between your legs. Didn't even get any hardware. Maybe you'll go 10-2 next season, but man, getting nothing out of this season has got to sting.

The Hawkeyes sure looked like less than nobody. Slow unathletic and intimidated against Stanford. You embarrassed the B1G. The B1G west is a joke. No offense to Nebraska fans. Hawks would have finished fourth in the East. New Kirk lol.
