If things do go south....

Yeah, cause a 40 year career .500 record is the same as a 2 year .500 record. After a winless year previous I might add. Duh.
Everyone acts as if the OSU Beavers are the OSU Buckeyes or something. One is a supermodel (Buckeyes) while the other is Lena Dunham. No way you can dress up that pig.

I'm done complaining about this season. I'll enjoy the wins no matter how ugly, I'll feel like crap after the losses, no matter how many there are. These players and coaches deserve our support and I wish the best for them all no matter how the rest of the season plays out.

I like Mike Riley and I hope he wins the rest of his games but I don't understand some of his decisions on the field. (like not playing POB for a couple of series after Lee is throwing interceptions, Mike Riley should be coaching Lee and giving him feedback on the sidelines) I hope Mike Riley wins the rest of his games and I hope we go to a good bowl game.

I am around managers at work like Eichorst and I can't stand them. Smug, aloof, rigid, and convinced they are the smartest people in the room. Pederson was the same way. These types of people are the worst decision makers because they do everything in a vacuum. It is too bad there isn't some way to oversight the football coach hiring process to filter in what many people see, but the AD seems to be blind to. Too bad someone couldn't have raised a red flag on Bo's lack of HC experience and temperament; and Riley's record and the fact he was on the hot seat at OSU. If that means we can't a coach before spring ball, so be it, go with a interim the next season. Not good for recruiting, but avoiding a big mistake that transcends recruiting.

This is how I know it is gotten horrendously bad....I feel no joy in wins and no pain in losses. It used to be extremes for both....Nebraska football just has me dead inside now.

This is a message board about a football team. I don't care what people post so long as it doesn't violate board rules. There are all kinds of different opinions. This board would be boring if all you had were koolaid drinkers (as I was before the season) or Negative Nellies. I like both the optimists and the pessimists on here. If someone disliked the Riley hire from the start, then they have every right to follow his career here with a more jaundiced eye. If you were a sunshine pumper from the start then you have every right to criticize the negative types. It is all in good fun. We take ourselves too seriously.

Post whatever the hell you want.

It would be cool if everyone could refrain from jumping in here and acting like an a$$. By that I mean, explaining why you were right about Riley, talking about how bad he sucks, talking about how bad the team sucks, and talking crap about individual players.

1) Riley is a class act. 2) Those young men want to win worse than we do. 3) Riley has done A LOT of good things here at the University.....most notably, helping to get rid of the stench that Mark left behind when he tried to use a scorched earth policy on his way out the door. Even if a move is made at the end of the season, I am glad that Mike Riley has been our coach.

Obviously, I think it is inevitable that Coach Riley will probably be gone at the end of the season. There certainly is no need to continue to b*tch about him throughout the remainder of the season. Don't be that miserable of a person. Or at least if you are, don't post it here.

GBR. Let's take it to Illinois next Friday.
1. Have you ever posted something like this about Tom Osborne? The things said about him on this board transcend what gets said about Riley.
2. I can think that Riley is a nice guy and NOT be glad that he has been our coach.

Agreed, Pennsy. There is nothing wrong with varying opinions here. I was just saying we probably don't need to spew insult after insult about what type of pos Riley is. He already has one foot out the door, anyway.

The Mike Riley lovers who can't praise their own opinions enough in the off-season, in addition to name-calling anyone with a critical eye( Bloners and Blotards), will never be wrong. Don't think he wins enough? You're a Blotard, go root for Youngstown State! Can't fill a class or roster same as the last terrible coach? Wait till next year's recruiting class Bloner! It takes 9 years to change the culture and get players to fit the systemin a program, Cleti!

Mike seems to have improved recruiting the and process surrounding this most important aspect of a solid CFB program. OL needs work. I would like to see him continue to make improvements, fire Cav, and hone in our deficiencies. If he does this, I am good, because any other good coach can come in and succeed. Just might need another style QB. GBR

I know what you are saying, but I was one of those "sunshine pumpers", too. Just remember, those guys love NU just as much as you do. What good is it going to do to beat your chest and rub it in a fellow Husker fan's face about how wrong they (and I) where?

Plus, posters from other boards will be heading over here in droves to see what kind of meltdown NU fans are in. Let's try to prove to everyone that we try to live up to "through these gates....."
I don't think anybody's trying to rub it in. Those posters were complete assholes to everyone who disagreed with them since Riley was hired, and the hostility started well before Bo was fired. That's why there has been so few good posters on this board while when I first joined there were a lot of good posters here.

Good series of posts here. Thanks for getting it started, Dana.

I don't think this means we need to "candy-coat" postings, because that simply would not be an honest representation of our opinions. Rather, we should all try to be respectful and appreciative of the players and coaches who are wearing Husker red. Easier said than done during these struggling times, but I agree it's a better look than beating up our own.

We're in for more rough times this year, but it looks like program leadership is ready to do what is needed to restore the order. Kudos to them.
How about trying to respect fellow posters on this board as well? We may disagree on what the best direction for the football program is going forward, but we're all Husker fans and want to see this team do well.

It’s all a matter of perspective here...

When the hire was made, you essentially had 2 camps... those that said Mike who? And followed it with we will never win again as long as he’s here!

And those who said Mike who? And followed it with let’s give the guy a chance to see what he can do.

To the first crowd, the second crowd was a bunch of idiots for thinking Riley would turn it around, and they (we) were told this over and over again in no uncertain terms.

The second crowd though the first crowd was a bunch of idiots for not even giving the coaches a chance.

The name calling and lines drawn in the sand began soon after that, and it was equal opportunity bashing from then until now.

To say just one side was made up of complete assholes is shortsighted. This has been going on from both directions since the hire. Please don’t play the victim role here, when you’ve played your asshole role here as well.

Call me an asshole... that’s fine. I deserve it for many of my posts. But own your side as well.

If a poster personally attack other posters, he's an asshole. I have never personally attacked a poster for an opinion they had that I thought was dumb. When someone personally attacks me or another poster, I can get defensive but I never start personal attacks. I think you're confusing my criticical analysis of the coaching staff and players as a personal attack on you. I think it's ok to be critical and that's the purpose of a discussion board.

I want this program to be successful. I want the players to be successful and I want the coaches to be successful. I want Mike Riley to be successful and thought he would be after last year. However with the regression of the team this year, I seriously question if Riley is the right guy.
