I keep receipts.

I have to keep mine for 7 years and produce them immediately if an unelected agency employee demands them....just sayin.... Then that employee can refer me for prosecution if I don't have them.

Yeah, that’s exactly what is going to happen…or something.
My bet is that DOGE will actually end up spending more money. I assume illegally fired folks will get back pay plus interest. Critical spending that has been vacated will have to be backfilled and extra money will be spent getting these situations straighten out. Indeed, most of the funding may eventually be returned depending on how the litigation over the 1974 Impoundment Act plays out. Clinton got Congress to pass a line-item veto, but SCOTUS ruled it unconstitutional.

The swamp is definitely getting deeper over in D.C. But money will change hands, trips will be gifted and maybe everything will be declared legal in the end. Same sh*t, different administration.

If DOGE does save money it will just go for more tax breaks for the rich, we won’t see a dime of it.

Team Elon claims 55 billion saved, NPR analysis says 2 billion, or about 7 bucks per citizen. Now I’m no math professor but that doesn’t sound like a lot of money . Couldn’t even buy you a pack of smokes nowadays . Also, this will likely end up costing taxpayers in the long run.

NPR has been wrong just about every time and seems to be rooted in foreign interests rather than our own.

I don’t know how much they’ve saved because I haven’t audited a thing. But NPR is more likely to do an article on the earth being a donut than team Trump doing anything productive

In a contest of who is truthful and accurate between Elon and NPR, i’m taking the tote bag people every day and twice on Sunday. Not the South African multi multi billionaire who has an issue with ketamine abuse.

I think Elon has good motivations but then you see stories like this. Firing people first and then realizing you need them after sll.

Elon is WAY too trusting of the young people who are doing all of this investigating. Fools rush in where wise men fear to tread is very operational. What's the hurry? Take the time to get things right. It's stupid to think that such complicated work needs to be done in a few weeks.

The long run? Who the hell cares about that? This is all about social media posts and bravado.

No doubt they will find waste. But most is drama to rile up a gullible base. Take the credit cards. Elon says aha, I found all these credit cards. Well over half are for the department of defense. Which is going to see a $150 billion increase in spending. So they clearly aren't that worried. I know maga people who are planning on what to do with their $5000 Elon dividends. People are nuts.

There is a system of inspectors general in each federal agency whose job it is to find fraudulent behavior and waste. I don’t know if all of these IG‘s got fired but I know that a lot of them got fired. I suspect that the activity of these IGS over the years has run up against members of Congress because one man’s waste is a Congress Critter’s treasured program. I would think that if your goal is to find efficiencies and root out waste that you wouldn’t fire the individuals who are experts at finding where that waste is.
But of course this operation has nothing to do with finding efficiency and cutting waste.

I’m sure none of the IGs are on the take either 😉

Definitely possible. Just makes a bunch of drama when the normal process of dismissing them isn't followed. Same with the firing of all these probationary employees. Random drama when it could have been done in an orderly fashion.

NPR is propaganda. Interesting

Jury is out on Elon but he could be a swindler. In some ways I distrust a lot of what he’s doing but I fully support these audits
