I hope this article is OK to post...

How do you explain us running the ball more than passing then.. until we got down 17-0? Some NU fans are so delusional that they feel like if we are not running the ball 70 percent of the time it means we are passing 100 percent of the time.
Here is what I saw - for example first series of the game for NU

* two first downs running the ball
* Then an incompletion on a 1st and 10 - run for no gain and another incompletion - punt

At any time this staff gets behind in the down and distance they revert to the pass - If the run is working they still revert to the pass - example S alabama game - we passed more than we ran in this game despite running the ball at a 7 yd per carry clip - why????

Because we are a passing team that is why - makes no difference the players were recruited on offense for mainly a running team - I see no difference in what Callahan did to what Riley is doing other than Riley has a better a better QB and receivers

I can only speak for myself. We don't have to run it 70% or any defined % of the time. If we're completing passes at high rate, I don't care if we barely run the ball.

1st series:
Run for 4 yds
Pass Incomplete
Pass Incomplete

Punt

2nd series:
Run for 5 yds
Pass incomplete
Run for 5 yds (1st down)
Run for 10 yds (1st down)
Pass Incomplete
Run for 1 yd
Pass Incomplete
Punt

3rd series:
Run for 3 yds
Pass Incomplete
Run for 1 yd
Punt

We had ZERO pass completions by the time Miami had 17 points on the board. We ran the ball 7 times, passed 6. The passes were dropped, bad nerves, bad luck, bad somethin'. I don't know, I'm just frustrated.

I think you need to check your "facts" on our first series. Also..we were nearly 50/50 vs S Bama. I'm sure being balanced had nothing to do with our success on the ground. Further proof that for some of the old timers if you aren't running 70 percent of the time you are passing 100 percent of the time.

Sounds like Rose-Ivey may be out for an extended period of time....luckily we are not bare at LB. Sick
He was really having problems after the game. We may very well not have any of the 3. Thank God for the depth!!!

You are correct this was second series the first series was a 3 and out with two pass attempts. So tell me if we are not a ppassing team why even pass against S alabama when we are running for 7yds a carry - I get this whole balance thing but normally in college that means you never excel at either

And in that series we had a drop for a FD if I recall. Why pass against S Bama? Do you think we will be able to avg 7 yards a carry against good teams? It's called reps. And for a new offense/system that's crucial. And again...do we average 7 yards a carry against S Bama if we aren't balanced? Probably not. I get that you are looking for anything to bitch at but you are letting it cloud your judgement.

I don't understand why you hate on MRI. Kid's got skills. When our first guys are in there I like our backers...I would hardly call them a bare spot.

Now the problem is depth. Some of us have been pointing that out in this very thread.

Our frontline talent is fine overall but we do not have the depth.
Ouch...sometimes facts hurt.

Bare=no depth. Yeah it would be sweet to have our starting backers play every snap all season. When is the last time that happened?

Are you really as stupid as you act on here? I mean come on, nobody is really as stupid as you act when they seemingly have normal brain functionality.

No...bare equals our starters aren't all that good. Try and read the posts above and find the context. It was all about Rose Ivey being a stud backer. So why are you hating on MRI? When he's healthy we aren't bare there.

I love how you guys follow me from thread to thread finding minute things to pull out of context and say, "Tom, doesn't know what he is talking about!" The only problem is that it derails the thread.

Now...to set you straight on the post you nitpicked:

Sentence 1. Our top guys are good but we don't have depth.
Sentence 2. I don't think we are bare at backer.
Sentence 3. MRI is going to be a stud.

When has he been healthy? So now that he is injured we are bare at LB? So let's see...we were counting on a LB who has rarely played for us this far due to multiple injuries....yet we aren't bare? mkkkkkkkaaaaaaaay. Bare=no depth and our roster at that position is as bare as it gets for a power 5 school hoping to win their division.

CUPBOARD: A place where supplies are stored when not in use AS IN BACKUP LINEBACKERS AND DEs.
Banderas and MRI may never be at full speed now for the rest of the season. NOT BARE = having a backup with some experience that can come in play with little drop off.

Let me get this straight. You are saying that IF those backers are healthy "our frontline players are fine overall but we don't have depth."

Don't flatter yourself, Tom. People aren't following you from thread to thread... Everybody reads everything for the most part. Your stupid comments from time to time speak for themselves.

When did you become webster's dictionary? I never thought the previous poster was hating on rose-Ivey. Bare to me didn't mean MRI is bad... I thought he was saying we have no depth behind him. No one has questioned MRI and his talent. Everyone is happier when he is in there. Where did he hate on him?

And please, so that we don't misunderstand you any longer, could you give us definitions for common words moving forward? Then we won't have to "follow you from thread to thread."

I'm not saying that at all...Banderas had been mediocre at best his first two years. Young is a true freshman. I think MRI is solid when he is healthy which is almost never.

OK...we disagree then. No biggie. I think we both agree and have said that the depth sucks.
