How many female athletes are going to get $800,000 per year with a 1.8 million dollar signing bonus?

Just had this speech with my 11 year old last night. She asked why certain things cost so much. She glazed over about 5 minutes in though……You are worth what somebody will pay you. No more, no less.

Not sure. But since they aren’t doing the same job, why should they? I’m fine if they want to try out for the men’s teams.I mean, I think it could become a Title IX issue.

Only when you use it correctly.Only when you don’t have it..

No. I think there would be an issue for schools if there is a major disparity in NIL money for male versus female athletes. The feminists would rightly go nuts if the only way for women to reach the same NIL level was to be objects for men on Only Fans.Counting Only Fans?
The female athletes, if they want, are making more and it is not even close and it will last much longer for them.I mean, I think it could become a Title IX issue.

It’s a completely anything-goes, mercenary environment right now. When the expanded playoff starts, there’s going to be wayyy more opt outs and I’m talking about key players opting out of playoff games. The majority of these kids aren’t committing to schools anymore, they’re committing to dollars along with maybe a relationship to certain coaches.
You think a stud projected top 10 draft pick isn’t going to think twice about playing 3 more football games, likely against the most difficult competition they’ve faced all year when they have million’s waiting for them when they’re not even really committed to the school?
sounds like you watch too much B1GThat's great that players today are bigger, faster, stronger. That doesn't improve the product. Bad football is bad football, regardless of how big and fast the players are.
Schools will need to add a no opt out clause when it comes to playoffs. When the expanded playoff starts, there’s going to be wayyy more opt outs and I’m talking about key players opting out of playoff games. The only thing that shocks me about this is that the name of the player wasn't revealed in the article.Ohio State loses bidding war for recruit:
https://www.si.com/fannation/colleg...-nil-ohio-state-georgia-5-star-recruit-report
From article:
“The unnamed player got an offer in the neighborhood of $800,000 per season to play at Georgia, a figure that doesn't even include a reported signing bonus of $1.8 million more on top of that.”

I'm sure it's not related to her gymnastics performance, but who cares if it comes from NIL or Instagram or Only fans.. it's a Laissez-faire environment.
There are plenty of dumb people who put up money for dumb things, but if it's their money, nobody should have a problem with it.
this year's national title game will top last year's in terms of ratingsRemember that it all tracks back to the fans. They drive the TV ratings which drive the media contracts which make the schools rich. Those schools naturally want to compete with the other schools so they use that financial windfall to do just that. And the fans WANT those schools to beat out all the other schools. Yes, as much as we all want to complain about it, us fans are the driver. It can only be managed if there are some agreed to competitive regulations limiting how the schools can compete amongst themselves. Will ALL the fans come to an agreement on that?
Or something like thatIt is written somewhere that "the love of money is the roots of all sorts of evil."

the fans have already agreed. there has literally never been a time in the history of college football when more people tuned in than today
That's because all the games are on TV these days which drives the media rights payouts. It's a shift in how games are viewed, not enthusiasm for the sport.Yet College Football attendance has declined for 7 straight years. It is down 4% from 2019.
College football attendance declines for seventh straight season to lowest average since 1981
Even the best teams and conferences across college football saw attendance drops this seasonwww.cbssports.com
the media deals are more concerned about viewership than gameday attendanceYet College Football attendance has declined for 7 straight years. It is down 4% from 2019.

I think the answer is, yes. Sponsors will get sick of it and the deals will get smaller and smaller.Someone please explain to me how NIL favors or benefits Nebraska MORE than other schools, i.e Bama, Michigan, tOSU, et all. We might have better resources than say Iowa but I don't really know that. Where is the proof?
How long can this keep going? Is there an endless stream of money? Will sponsors get tired of paying someone like Decoldest and then have them just leave? When does the new wear off? Say what you want about companies and their money but at the end of the day they have to make more, it s return thing.
I know there is the sentiment that now this is the system that rewards those who people want to watch play, I get that but there is a reality here and a bidding war that is about money, not playing. I just don't see this ending well. It is already making me less interested.
lolMe neither
We haven’t been to a bowl game in going on a decade & countless mouth breathers think illinois is a shining beacon of hope
really anything that can garner people's attention for the sake of selling advertisements is a home run..That's because all the games are on TV these days which drives the media rights payouts. It's a shift in how games are viewed, not enthusiasm for the sport.
Make/build "frat" houses for the teams/positions. A big ass mansion, hire a cook/cleaning, law care, laundry service and so on. Give them a "salary".we need NIL deals for position groups
the (insert company or family name) Offensive line - all the lineman get the deal and then can supplement with other deals
instead of names on buildings - names affiliated with position groups
Every Michigan O-lineman who signs gets a pretty big NIL deal
The product is watered down now with 131 teams in Div 1, the haves and the have-nots are 2 separate divisions in one division. Is it better?

Power 5 and G6 should be separate divisions and each should have their own playoffs and championship games. The product is watered down now with 131 teams in Div 1, the haves and the have-nots are 2 separate divisions in one division.
Instant replay on every play is bull shit. Slows down the game and adds probably 30 mins per game.
The targeting penalty needs to be seriously revisited. (Especially in the B1G) Created with good intentions but installed in a very bad way. There is no need for suspension.
DPI needs to be looked at for the passes thrown short with no hope of catching. I've seen many QB's purposefully throwing the pass short to get the first downs or in the last 2 mins to get into scoring position.
Players opting out of bowl games or quitting halfway through the season because of turning pro.
Unlimited transfers are not in the best interest of the game.
NIL just makes the player payments above board now, adds no value to the game.
If there is going to be an expansion of the playoffs, remove the Conference Championship Games to the Power 5 programs, the lower conferences can keep them for the revenue, it is their consolation prize for being a D-1 FBS conference.
