- Huskers will play UCLA in Lincoln twice on back-to-back days in a rare volleyball doubleheader
- Huskers will open the season at the VERT Challenge in Gainesville, Florida, playing both Florida and Oregon
- Huskers will also play in a tournament hosted by Nebraska-Omaha at Baxter Arena. Cook wanted to play in UNO's new gym, saying quote: "I wanted to go to UNO’s new gym,” Cook said. “They’ve worked hard to get to (NCAA) Division I and it will be a big deal. And (Husker senior setter) Kelly Hunter is from Papillion."
- Since Nebraska is playing UNO, the Huskers will not play Creighton this season
- Allie Havers, who just completed four years with the basketball program, is getting a chance to tryout for the volleyball program.
- Kristin Hildebrand, wife of new NU assistant Tyler Hildebrand, will have an unpaid position on the staff
