What's funny to me is how few of those big play gifs or pictures show a Hawkeye player having success against Nebraska.

That's the problem for them. They live vicariously through the various (and many [sadly]) teams that have beat Nebraska since 2011. Somehow, Iowa just can't seem to do it themselves.
