Hoyas next up for the Huskers in the Crown as 9.5 underdog

Essegian has to be square and unhurried to make shots from 3 it appears. Streaky shooter and he threw up some bad bricks in the second half. He had some nice feeds and drives. Had some big shots in the first half to help us build a lead then fell apart late😕

I feel I miss everything. I'm working later so I miss the starts of these games. I started to watch it in the 2nd and then I had to change my focus to something else (pizza dough). I really didn't get to pay attention to maybe one or two series. You kinda tune out the game to focus on your task at hand. Now, I've missed most of the game and need to wait up until 1am to finish the dough. If only I could wake up early enough to do this. Tonight was kind of the do it now or don't have dough ready for the weekend. I really need to move this task to the weekend. LOL

Oh and GBR!

We have a lot of guys where you just have no clue what you're going to get out of them from one game to the next.

Like I said before.. Win or lose, this is a point and laugh tournament, nothing more.

Nebraska wouldn't have even accepted a bid if Omaha was in.

I think we have already established what this tournament is.You have to be in a power4 conference to play in this tournament and Omaha wouldn’t be invited.

Now you can go back to your clarkeye board and cluck over there.

I mean, this tournament means nothing in the grander scheme of things. But if you’re gonna accept a spot in one of these tournaments then show up and play to win. I poked plenty fun at this tournament, but as long as it isn’t hurting recruiting (can’t really say either way right now) it’s a net positive IMO.

I'd rather have Nebraska finish on a winning note than a losing one regardless of the tournament. Lets hope the team finishes this thing out with a win and bring home the cash that could be used for basketball NIL one would hope. jmo

Good question but after Mondays win several posters on here were saying he shouldn't be on the floor or something close to that
Who said anything like that?

In both games, Jacobsen has looked like a guy who can give the team some good minutes off the bench next year. If he and Sam Hoiberg are starting, how do you think NU does in Big Ten play?

Essegian has at least looked interested in guarding someone the last two games.

I thought his effort on that end was pretty poor most of the year.

KT was bad defensively as well, but he was at least in the right places and tried which gives you a chance.

Why couldn’t they show up during the last 5 games of the season?

Wish they would’ve. My point was you don’t just accept an invite to one of these tournaments because that’s all you got to go with. You better be motivated and believe you can win some games or the whole thing. If you’re not committed to playing well and team is giving off a “going through the motions” vibe, you might as well decline and get to recruiting.

But yeah, it’s maddening that we couldn’t play with such poise and urgency the last 5-6 games of the regular season. Not knowing what could’ve been is, for many people, is a lot harder to deal with than playing in the B1G/NCAA tournament and flaming out in the 1st round. Not knowing sucks…

It’s the inconsistency that remains in Fred’s program that like you said is maddening. Being capable but failing is harder to take than just flat out being bad is.

The best analogy is it’s like going to a minor bowl game with a 6-6 regular season football record. You get more practices to supposedly help for the next season and an additional game(s) to play.

Saint Thomas having a big game tonight. Too bad he was drawn to the bright lights of Greeley by what was surely a gazillion dollars in NIL money.

In an ideal world Sam would be a senior and Jacobsen would pick up his role of "defender, scrappy, energy guy" next year. Instead, we'll get both of them on the floor while more physically gifted and talented guards run circles around them. The reason we look better in this tournament is because we're not playing B1G teams and ASU and GT haven't resembled those rosters at all. Outside of one guy from ASU nobody has looked remotely interested in rebounding. I'm not saying that B1G basketball is the best, but it's different.

Sam still has eligibility left?

Jeez

I'm wondering how the diehard members of the Sam Fan Club would have reacted if anyone else on the team had jacked up two brainlessly quick three-pointers with around 3:00 to go and a 10-point lead over Georgetown? Had they not blown a couple of layups, those gems opened the door for that game to go right down to the wire.

(EDITED to correct the opponent and time.)

The last shot Sam took vs Asu was a 3 pointer with 3.5 min left that put us up 10

The second one might have been a little quick. The first one came 23 seconds after a Georgetown basket, so that hardly seems early.
