How many BB transfers

I could see McVeigh, Akenten, Thorir, possibly Thomas Allen and Tshimanga. I also think there's a high chance Copeland leaves to play overseas if he finishes his degree. He'll be 23 years old. He's never going to be an NBA player so he wouldn't gain anything by staying.

The biggest question is Palmer. If Palmer leaves early, I think it could trigger a mass exodus.

If true....the ole we were predicted to finish 13th and exceeded preseason expecations should not be a thing. NCAA or bust next year assuming we are left out this year. No NCAA next year and Tim Miles should be getting his talking papers.

I wouldn't criticize Palmer at all if he turns pro, but maybe he'll want another year in Lincoln? Age is not as much of an issue for him as it was for Petteway.

Another reason Miles isn't the guy for the job. His two best seasons were the result of hitting the jackpot with transfers. Even that resulted in one NCAA berth and one NIT berth. Relying on transfers to pay off is not a sustainable model. He'll lose half his roster next year and hit the reset button. This guy is not the guy for Nebraska.

It’s over. Nobody truly cares about the Not In Tournament tournament. It’s perfectly fine to discuss next season.

You don't know it's over. We still don't even know what teams in front of us are going to do.

FFS, this is Nebraska basketball. Even an NIT bid is exciting for this program. You may not care about an NIT bid, but I do. This BB program is historically terrible. What exactly were you expecting after last season?

I’m not saying the NIT isn’t exciting...I’ll watch and hope we win if that’s where we land. But, people need to stop with the “what did you expect after last year” stuff. This year was a jump forward that can only be sustained if we keep this team intact next year. If we can keep our main contributors for next year...great. We should be a top 25 team. If not, Miles needs to be roasted.

I appreciate that people have more insight into decisions young men will make before they’ve made them themselves.

Can we wait until decisions have actually been made before we go into the sky is falling mode?

JFC...the NIT is NOT exciting. NU has done the NIT to death. It only represents failure. Being in the NIT is better than not being in the NIT just like being in a U.S. prison is better than better than being in a Mexican prison. One just sucks a little less than the other.

Considering the money NU spend on the basketball program the past 7 years, there should be no rewards for limping into the f**king NIT.

I can appreciate your sentiments HB13. However, I just want to enjoy this fun season for what it is. An aberration. Well, for Nebrasketball. I get tired of hearing "fire Miles" after every loss. We've had a lot less losses than wins this season. In fact, we were competitive in most all of our games this season outside of today's matchup and the MSU one. I agree that Miles has to make the NCAA next year. I just don't think that think that kids will come to NU in the one and done era without something to build on. This would be that year. Can Miles build on that? I'm skeptical just like everyone else.

NU has the resources to be a tournament team. Excuses are like tail-holes, everybody's got 'em, and they all stink!

The sky can't be "falling". It had already fallen last year when Jacobsen and Morrow transferred....Maybe we can get Pitino from Minnesota. He should be available after the year they had. For years it was "we could have had Eustachy and instead we hired Miles". At least that nonsense has stopped. Hmmm...who was the poster all pissed because we didn't hire Eustachy?

McVeigh will leave to head back home

You have to pay up to get a certain roster. We all set around here thinking it don’t happen but it does and we (nu) does it really bad. Really . Just look back... Mike beasaly to kstsnk? He was best buddy’s with durrant in hs. K state just figured out how to Annie up that year. He gave them a great year and their best player of all time. Et. Mitch Richmond can argue

will there be this year?
I think Roby, Copeland and Palmer all could be gone. Palmer and Copeland could leave because of age and the thought that neither could really improve upon what he accomplished this year.

Roby could go just based on potential. Is he ready? Of course not, but in the last 10 years the NBA has valued youth and potential over all else. Heaven help a player who stays in school three or four years! Half of the NBA will figure something must be wrong with the guy if he doesn't turn pro before the age of 21.

And since I think all three could go, I will predict NU to win the NIT if they don't make the Big Dance. I think the team will be super motivated to show what they can do.

Not going to argue with you, but how many seasons has Miles even made the NIT? A Tim Miles basketball program is not above the NIT.

Next year? How about we shoot for 16–15. Miles has to show us he can put back-to-back winning seasons together.

I could see Nana and Jack transfer. Who knows about what will happen with Palmer and Copeland. Hopefully we can get a couple good transfers(Grad or regular). It is what basketball has become now. It's a transfer game.

Iowa State does pretty good going the transfer route (though not this year).

I can’t see Allen leaving.

Evidently, nobody saw the bench players having so much fun in games. Nobody noticed the palpable team unity they had this season. Everyone forgot that they were predicted to finish last or next to last in he conference. What evidence do any of you have for believing a player will be leaving? Jody is the only one who would make sense, or Jack if he honestly believes he would get more PT with anyone else. Palmer is, at best, predicted to be a 2nd rounder. I'm sure he hopes for better. Copeland could possibly make some money playing overseas, maybe, but after working so hard to get to the place he is at on the team, it doesn't make sense to jump ship now.

I think Nana stays.
If he's the real deal, he should have plenty of opportunities to play next season. At a minimum, both Good Gill and Terrible Gill will be gone, as will Evan Taylor. And all of NU's other guards lack size.

Personally I think every player will transfer because Miles is the worst coach they’ve ever had and they expected to win 23 games, not 22.

Haha. You know that's how many actually think. They pine for the days of Big 8 championships and Final Four appearances.

You know, Bill, this is an excellent point. Miles hasn't put back-to-back years together to form winning seasons. He seems to have really good years and really bad years. He needs to be given a chance to have two good years in a row. If he doesn't succeed next season, then he needs to go.

Firing Miles after one of the best records in Husker basketball history would be ridiculous, though. If we're lucky, we could get Sadler to coach here again.

If programs like Kansas State, Iowa, Iowa State, Baylor, Wichita State, etc. can make the tournament regularly, we should be able to as well. We have equal or better resources, facilities, and fan support than many of these programs that manage to make the tournament more than once a decade.

Iowa does not make the tournament regularly but the rest of your post is valid.

Iowa State is really young and will be back soon looking at their recruiting efforts. Hoiberg did a great job with transfers.

Their future is bright if they stay on the current path I think.

This. We've had 2 winning seasons in 6 years. With Doc Sadler we had 4 for crying out loud and Doc didnt have PBA or the practice facility. Tim Miles is a D2 quality coach and we deserve better.
Doc scheduled in order to make sure he got winning seasons. Personally I might take a sub .500 season every other year if I knew it was going to get me a 21-22 win season every other year as well. Doc was the master of 16/14 W/L seasons.
