How did our resident gambling degenerates do this last weekend?

I opened this thread thinking "there can't really be any degenerate gamblers made up of all these wholesome Husker fans"..

Now I am thinking at least one of you has a dead hooker story from your past ...

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Any overall winners after opening weekend?
Pete Rose and I love your thread heading. No sporting event is held anymore without detailed gambling odds for a team or individual player of note to cover. Even here on Inside Nebraska we have a report on gambling odds. I never thought I would live to see that day. Woodstock indeed changed America for the worse.

I guess, he's cleared to start throwing and practice. Could play if needed.
He’s not starting over Lewis unless he’s hurt (badly)

He’ll be 3rd string

If he starts it will be a generational opportunity on Ga Southern so keep us posted

Calling Bul$&it to all of this..Or you need help and the wife isn’t the person to ask for help..

Drinks on Kong!

Good picks my man
Can't believe you didn't play PSU.

Oddly enough, I really don't enjoy college football as much when I gamble on it.

I enjoy the research part of it, but unless I'm playing 5-6 team parlays, the end result doesn't do much for me.

That must be why I went about 40 years between wagers on college football.

He may have made those plays.

Hell, I only plan to play $1,200.00 for the entire season because I like the math with parlays once the season and teams settle in.

Just like last year, there are already 15 teams that are overrated by Vegas and 15 underrated.

All I hope is that people are playing within their comfort zone and at least breaking even, cause its a long season.

Which 15 are overrated and underrated?

I mean, I started by hitting 4 of the first 5. Why not press it after that? I was staying in a casino for three nights.

That's a loaded question because I'm not wanting guys to lose money on account of what I list.
That's like saying, bet this horse cause he can't lose. They all lose.

If you really want me to, I will. It's predicated strictly on who covered by a lot and who failed to cover, doesn't take into account if a QB tanked or they had a ton of turnovers.

It worked well for me last year though and it only takes Vegas 2-3 games to get it together.

Bro it’s all opinions. No one is gonna hold you accountable for your predictions

You know what Hank? The reason I'm not calling your amounts into question is if you were there for a special weekend it is EXACTLY what I did for 2 straight years when I took my family to the Breeders Cup at Santa Anita. I took a lot more money to wager than I ever would have, and I was there to win or lose.

I used to bet on a lot of cfb games. At least a fair amount for the way you guys talk. Some of my friends do more than what I did every wknd, some a lot more. I don't watch enough anymore to know my shit. It might have been 3 years since my last bet before this wknd.

2003 was such a great BC…even though I needed MDO to make it much better than a good weekend.

When that works its awesome.

Personally, rather than me betting $ 100.00 to win on 3 different teams to win $ 300.00, I'd just as soon play a 3 team $ 50.00 parlay and win the $ 300.00. If I miss, no big deal cause I only have to hit 1 of 6 to break even. If I can't hit 16%, I'll stick to horses. LOL

I like the law of large numbers.

Vegas builds castles on the busted parlay tickets.

Probably 90% of gamblers are recreational gamblers. That is who vegas and bookies want as clients.

Much better to have 1,000 guys betting 10 dollars a game and doing a parlay here and there, instead of 1 dude that puts 10,000 on a game.

Vegas, for the most part, is built off most of us.

I had friends in college that were bookies and they would pretty much cap everyone at like 30 dollar bets. The last thing they wanted/needed was some dork getting lucky with some 300 dollar bet.

Long winded story nobody wants to read but here goes....I built my house at Lake of the Ozarks 100% from gambling wins. At 21 I worked for a guy who was a regional for the mafia. Had a website to bet but all was collected and paid in person. Made 250k in the first college football season I gambled.
I thought I was some sort of profit. Was something like 20 of my first 25 bets. Boss gave me Saturdays off just so he could call and know who to bet. I was betting on avg 20k per week. Young and DUMB! After the football season I was addicted to the extra 10-15k/week so I found myself betting soccer, horses, MLB, CBB...... lost about 50k and didn't place another sports bet for 20 years. Up big big lifetime but withdrawing and handing over that kind of cash was a reality check.

So, were those your bets or bets you got from DEREK? You say he helped you make a mint in your early days. Which one is it?

I'm not saying you didn't wager that kinda dough cause I know at least one guy personally who shovels more than a $ 1M a year through the windows at the track, albeit, he gets a helluva rebate from a shop.

I AM glad to hear, you had the sense to put the kabosh to your degeneracy. You were potentially headed towards trouble financially. Some guys never get satiated and they need more and more bigger scores and that generally requires more and more risk.

Mostly my picks...... I likely took 1 or 2 from him weekly. It was in 2006. Yeah, dodged a bullet. I was being dumb but made great$$ and was single no kids. If I had kept up I'd have lost my shirt. I was hooked. I didn't mind a losing week of a grand or so but when I took a big hit it shook me enough to ask myself what the hell I was doing. Was playing black jack and betting football as a second job.....
Because I started out winning on my first bet I didn't ever even consider that I could lose too. Just young and thought I was smarter than vegas.... first bet ever was The USC Trojans vs Arkansas, Mitch Mustains first year before transferring. Spread was Inwant to say 7. I wagered the 1k bonuses I had recieved that day. Something like 28-0 at half and I found out you could bet 2nd half. It was again USC-7. I wagered another 1k thinking I had already won the first. Within 4 hours of deciding to sports gamble I was up 2k of house money. Won another 1k on a first half line when VT and Frank Beamer blocked a N. Carolina punt and scored inside of a minute. It was the first time I was close to losing. My young dumb self didn't see it was luck but rather assumed Divine intervention lol......
Anyways, I bet this year for the first time in many years and it went well. Ill never again wager 1k on a game or have thousands out. I was so deep I had multiple accounts with 10k limits. I didn't even have to have deposited funds. I LET THE MAFIA FLOAT ME 10s of THOUSANDS and was so naive I didn't even realize the risks and the magnitude of the consequences and never had to. Won off the bat, saved the winnings, when I lost enough that I had to take a large piece of the winnings a close friend told me to build a house and stop. I paid and walked away. He even stole my computer to keep from playing online blackjack, looking back Kos saved me from me.
10 years later as life was going wellI reflected and realized what an idiot I had been even though it worked itself out. Not just the gambling but drinking and driving, cocaine, partying until 3 and working at 8 just to do it again........dodged many bullets that could have ended me or at the least severely altered my life for the worse.

Assuming some of this is true, you really do have a gambling problem. None of my business, but you probably shouldn't even be gambling.

Lot of problem gamblers get that "high" and can't seem to function without it, and I've seen a couple young guys wind up in the pen as a result. They tend to get that messiah complex, kinda like you described you were.

I've always maintained a balanced approach to wagering, that's why I also make standard plays and don't try to get rich in one shot.

Anyhow, good luck and stay mindful of what you're doing.

I functioned great without it. I'm not the same 26 year old kid.
