Hoops: Berke to Miss "Extended Time"

Good opportunity for Meah. He didn't play much Sunday, but those were good minutes. Made his FTs and a nice finish on a pick n roll.

Wonder if we will play Morgan and Meah at the same time? Meah at the 5, Morgan at 4?
Will probably have to for a portion of the game because the our roster doesn’t have other options. When they are on the floor together the significant difference in quickness on who they will be matched up against will be concerning.

I just don't think he can guard anyone and we play a defense where basically everyone has to guard everyone so you can't hide him. I actually think Uhlis is more likely to pick up minutes because he can guard and they can just stick Juwan at the 4. If only someone could teach him how to shoot a 12 footer off the dribble.

tough loss for the boys heading into a crucial stretch

This is a major blow for the team. Berke was playing major minutes, two positions and playing with confidence. The ankle injury didn't look good. Berke could come back and play in a week or two but those serious ankle sprains can take 6-12 months to fully recover from. If he comes back to play, he won't be the same player we saw on Sunday.

I doubt we'll have him back by the B1G tourney.

And it's not going to matter anyway. If Berke's able to play at 80% a month from now (just a guess), he's not going to be effective. He won't be getting off the floor well for rebounds. He'll be mostly upper body on his 3 point shots. Guards will blow past him if he switches out on them.

I hope I'm wrong. Maybe the injury isn't severe and he recovers pretty quickly. Who knows. But getting him back on the court for the Big 10 tourney would be a good goal. Get him ready for our 1st round game in the NCAA! :)
