Honest questions about succession planning for the athletic dept

Why? Yes he got rid of the football program at UNO but it's not like he's going to start axing programs here. There's not much interest for football at a school like UNO and was probably always going to lose a lot of money. That Alberts pulled the plug shows he can make tough decisions to help the university.
And do it in a chickenshit way.
No trev please. And it has nothing to do with him axing football.

Go get Whit Babcock. Pay him what he wants. He hired both Justin Fuente and Buzz Williams. Buzz just got Va Tech to the NCAA tourney for the first time in a decade and Fuente looks like a home run hire. He turned a bad Memphis team around and is 13-4 so far at Va Tech. That's pretty stinking good in the ACC.

Why would he leave Virginia Tech? I am sure we can all compile a list of ADs that are doing great things. The problem is finding one that will leave his current position.

Yep whoever it is should have a proven track of building winners and not be a bean counter or yes man

Revenue is better than ever, even without the increase from the B1G.

Finally spending more money on football, even without the increase from the B1G, then ever before.

2017 social media awareness instead of 1996 dial-up.

Everything is in place, at this time, for Husker football to succeed at a high level.

Football results are not good, at this point, but everything is in place.

Everyone knows you hate Shawn Eichorst but he's done a lot of damn good for Nebraska athletics. It may take someone else to elevate it to on-the-field results but the foundation is set.

False. You HPH'ers have no idea what happened under TO nor do you have a clue what's going on now.

Oh, by the way, Ohio State? RollingLaugh

Whoa, whoa, whoa Tim, I think you have the wrong guy. I've never said one disparaging thing about Eichorst, NEVER said I hate him, dislike him, he sucks, he's a moron, etc, go back and check my comments. I was only referring train wreck to the football team as it is right now, (and that's now clarified in my original comment), not the whole state of affairs of the Athletic Department.

One thing I do admit is I was surprised by his hiring of Riley at the time, but I'm more than willing to support and keep supporting both.

Now, can he, Riley, and the coaching staff get the train back on the tracks? We'll see. Hopefully so, but at this point it's an uphill battle for HCMR.

Not the first time I got you and @Aksarben mixed up. I own it and apologize.

I think everyone was surprised by the hire. When someone chooses to sit back and look at, IMO, one of the main reasons of hiring Riley - it makes sense. But that's my opinion, and not a results based opinion.

It's ugly on the field, but that's all it's ugly at. At this moment.

No worries. I think Riley is a very even handed coach, certainly not one to go off on tangents towards players, other coaches, fans, etc. I can see that as being one reason for hiring him, a guy that could patch things up with a calm demeanor and bring some dignity back to the HC position.

My thought too. Not a bad one either, based on how toxic the program was the last couple years under Pelini, but gosh damn it - you can't lose to Northern Illinois of all teams. Especially at home in an OOC game.

Best I can tell it will be the "Nebraska Man" hire again. It's their turn.

Scary how accurate that is. There really seem to be two factions of booster who can't seem to agree on anything. If your prediction is accurate, we might get the Trev Alberts/Scott Frost combo after all.

UCF's only played one game this year. Now if they can beat Maryland on Saturday, Frost will be looking like a real good candidate. But if they finish .500 this year, it will be hard to justify hiring Frost.

And he put the athletic programs budget in the tank! Sounds like a winner.

On another board, a poster said he was at some sort of Husker event with Sipple today. One of the boosters apparently told Sipple Alberts has a "financial situation in Omaha" that would preclude him being selected as AD.
