Class B is almost as bad. Three games decided by one score or less this week. Nine games decided by 4 touchdowns or more.

I don’f follow it, but I had also noticed there’s been just a ton of blowouts this year.

Some one on this board tried justifying that 8-man football was hardly even football. Part of his reasoning was due to 8-man game scores (blowouts).

Obviously it happens across the entire spectrum of HS football.

Class 6a in Indiana (top class) will be very good this year. The Indy teams, crown point and Elkhart all have very good chance to make deep runs.

Wish they did a better job of televising these

Wait, what happened with that MS game? Lincoln just didn't come back to the field?

6-man and 8-man is one thing when teams have 1 or 2 guys that are simply so much faster than the other team. Run away scores happen as 50 to 70 yard TD runs get racked up quickly.

This is Class A 11 man football. Supposedly the top end of the spectrum where teams are on equal ground and should be able to compete with one another.

That simply isn't happening.

These teams are simply getting manhandled physically like they are playing against Jr High football teams. True men amongst boys.

There are numerous B, C1, and C2 teams that would whip Lincoln High. No reason for them to be playing a Class A football schedule.

Last night Elkhorn South fanbase was chanting "Transfer Portal" as Westside was running up the score. 😀
There are a few schools known for transfers being a substantial factor in their rosters. Some schools are a sport or two and others are systemic. Open enrollment, youth sports recruitment and egos (coaches, parents and players) all factor into long drives across the metro area that have little to nothing to do with academic priorities.

Creighton Prep won 7 or 8 straight in the 80s when they were the only school able to actually 'recruit'.
Sure but that is different, they are a business, they are a private school that literally has to do all they can to get kids to attend there.

Every other school has a built in base of students.

You need to just go to your home school. Period.

Christian Jones lives in the Elkhorn South zone. I wish all these kids would just go to their neighborhood zoned schools.
So does the QB from Westside (Braylon Warren), he's an Elkhorn South kid. Tay Tay their stud RB just transferred from Central. It goes on and on at Westside and Millard South, most stud players are transfers jumping on those teams.

Heard Millard South added 11 players this past year that were already starters at their previous schools...

All Millard Schools, Westside and Bell West have a huge advantage with open enrollment right now.

OPS not far behind with transfers inside the district, but stud players don't typically transfer into OPS. Those Central hoops teams over the years had monster all star teams (within OPS), that got the ball rolling on all this transfer nonsense. Also the Omaha "learning community" outcomes. And now the potential for NIL in college kicked it all into overdrive in high school.....

True but really, you can live by Elk North and go to Bell West and be there in 30 minutes. None of it is super far.

Open enrollment is stupid.

Stu had an article in the owh with the plan of any transfer has to sit out 180 days before playing. Should be real simple if you live in the school district you play for the home school

Class A schools should go to

Class A 1 - all the premier top ranked schools
Class A 2- middle of pack schools
Class A 3 - lower tier schools

Schedule off the Tier, will have more competitive games. The 3 classes can be adjusted every year

Just my thoughts
Good idea, but would a "bad" Class A1 school miss the playoffs because some "good" Class A3 school had a better record than them?

Pretty sure Eric Crouch was supposed to go to MS....
Not a over whelming difference from one Millard school to the next or Elkhorn school to the next either..

Kids been going to Westside from Millard been going on for many years..

All of these Catholic schools have been recruiting for years. Skutt being the worst offender. The NSAA is just a huge joke. They have no idea how to class teams and you have small as schools that are in a class or 2 above where they should be just because they have nicer facilities then the schools around them. In HS I graduated with 54 kids and we were in class B. Ridiculous. We went to McCook one year and they had 125 kids on their sideline and we had like 40 including some freshman. We should have easily been C-2, yet were B in sports. They finally moved a few sports to C-1, but not all. This is dumb as well.

It's been going on for a few years now. The top 2 or 3 blow everyone else out. The next 5-6 play competitive against each other, respectable against the top 2-3 (maybe) and they blow out the bottom 15 teams. Class A & B are pretty similar.

LPS opened two new schools and figured that they could waltz in and play competitively right from the start since it was "only" Class B. Then they realized that the best Class B is better than most of Class A. And then the forfeiting began. That's all on the LPS administration. The Lincoln High forfeit was a different story. I don't blame them for boarding the bus at halftime. Having an all star team score 100 against them isn't going to do anybody any good.

I agree on the Private schools recruiting. Now with open enrollment some public schools also recruit. The ones complaining about teams like Westside and MS are the ones with closed districts(Gretna and ES).not sure I agree on the NSAA comment. You can’t have 10-12 classes in sports. Sometimes the low end of B is at a disadvantage number wise. It is what it is unfortunately.

I'm not saying you should have any more classes, but you shouldn't have tiny ass schools that have to go compete with big ass schools and basically will never have a shot to win the title just due to numbers. Towns with 3000 people shouldn't be in the same class as large B schools. Just adjust each year or have a rolling 3 years as you will always have grey area, but it definitely hurts the smaller teams out west. They also weigh facilities as well in their decision which is dumb. Like I said, we were tiny, but we had the benefit of having 2 rich families who basically got us an extra gym and then it hurt us on who we had to play. C-1 at the time would have been fine, but B was ridiculous.

The NSAA doesn’t base classification on facilities of a school where did you pull that from?

They reclassify every year in sports other than football which is 2 years. Tje problem is you have schools Co-op in some sports and not others . Sometimes that throws the numbers and classifications haywire.

Because I know both people in the NSAA as well as people that work with the NSAA in a number of schools across Nebraska. This is the case.
Lyons -Decatur a d-2 school just got done with a 20 million dollar bond that among other things gave them a 2nd 1000 seat gym. Bancroft-Rosalie a D-2 school just passed a similar bond and will also get another gym. I bet there classification doesn’t change.

I guess we will see. They are probably going to look into them possibly moving up a class if there is a perception that they have the best of the best compared to what everyone else has around them. Like I said, I know there is always going to be gray area, and if you are toeing that line so be it. Is what it is. My problem is when you have schools that should be easily class C-2 that end up being B in sports. That is my bitch. If you are a large C-1 school and they put you in B.... Fine.

The classifications are based on number of students enrolled at the school

So my point stands. Why should a school with 90 kids have to be class B in any sport where their enrollment is 400 ie Ralston? Also, towns like Lexington and places that are high immigration areas are going to get hosed. Barely any of those kids play sports unless there is a soccer team.

Good info though.
Your point doesn’t stand. You said you played in a bigger class because you had a rich family that got you an extra gym. That was completely false. Now I do agree on some of the towns as you mentioned having immigrants and the kids not playing sports. How is that the NSAA fault not sure what they can do.

I admit I do not know how Nebraska does their classifications.

For the most part, I have found Nebraska and Kansas pretty close in most of their rules. In KS we were on two year cycles and the numbers were separated boys and girls from classes 9-11 from the previous year. Occasionally, you would get the odd situation where a team would have one sport on one class and another class in others because of numbers in those classes and numbers to field teams.

I cannot believe in my wildest imagination, any state association weighing facilities in a decision where teams were placed. I used to go to those meetings every year, it was very cut and dried assuming your secretary counted correctly which I heard happened one time.
