Help - will be driving on the road during Sat's game

Well, actually my wife will be driving. What is the best way for me to watch the game in the car? I have an Ipad but does not have the Verizon 4G built in. I was thinking try to use my phone for mobile hot spot and watching on the "Watch ESPN" app on my ipad. Will that be a consistent enough connection to get a solid feed or should I just watch in on the iphone, albeit a smaller screen size? Would buying an air card for my laptop be better?
