Head coach Scott Frost back to UCF

I hope he does real well down there and competes for the Big 12 championship. He'll show some of the Nebraska naysayers he's a good coach and recruiter. I'm glad he's getting a second chance.

The 90's are gone brah. Scott Frost had a magical two year run at a Florida school in the AAC. It was always going to take more work at a Nebraska school in the B1G.

Truth is UCF should be an easier gig in the Big 12. There is no Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, Washington, Penn State in that league. Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Illinois, Rutgers, or Minnesota would've contended for the conference crown this year.

Let's be honest about a couple things here. Nebraska has a far richer history and more resources than UCF. It's a far older University and football program that has won numerous titles. But Nebraska has to overpay to keep up because they need kids from Florida, Texas or California. UCF is deceivably large and growing. They are very close to AAU status and have a growing alumni base that are rabid. There is a very large NIL base around Orlando. It's going to be easier to be lazy in Orlando and in that conference.

Nebraska needs to compete with at least five programs that have as much or better resources than themselves. Nebraska can't even say they have a richer history than four of those. If Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, USC or Oregon have a class outside the top 15 they're considered "bad" classes. A top 20 class at Nebraska is considered good. I mean it, Frost and Rhule are criticized for wasting talent.

UCF has who that recruits top 25 classes in their league? Who has a rich history in the Big 12? Colorado with one title? BYU with one title? So if Frost wins ten games at UCF and makes the playoffs with a bye like ASU, it really doesn't mean he's suddenly become what Husker fans thought he would be back in 2017.

Truth be told I will be really mad if he finds success at UCF. Because if he does find success there for a 2nd time, it’ll mean that he’s doing something there that he refused to do here.
I’ve read comments from UCF fans. Nearly all are very excited he is back. Some said he worked tirelessly. No need to rehash what happened here but that is not the version Nebraska got.

The all time winningest programs in the Big 12 are Colorado and then West Virginia. That’s the richest history you’ll find there.

Well, I have to at least pretend to root for UCF as my wife is alum. I turn the UCF game on as long as Nebraska isn't playing and pretend to be interested. After how I saw him run this program, I want no part of rooting for that guy. Going to have to see how my acting skills work at home. Speaking of, I'm in a super low budget movie on Tubi right now called Bye Bye Kitty. There are some funny parts. I'm the degenerate boyfriend. If anything give me a thumbs up. Working on the follow-up movie which has a lot better plot that doesn't involve changing the whole script due to covid.

BYU won a National in the 80's, they are like the Mormon Notre Dame. Colorado won one National and they were nationally relevant heading into the early 2000's. West Virginia will never be a national power. I'm sorry but West Virginia somehow thinks there's an ACC plan to save themselves with Notre Dame and West Virginia.

The ACC at least has FSU, Miami, Clemson and North Carolina. People act like the Big 12 can be the distant third with Colorado being the headliner. Call me when that happens.

Imagine what the difference is like between UCF and NU.

I can't imagine UCF football is covered all that much with radio shows or podcasts. There can't be any "overreaction" shows after each game.

That would be weird to be a fan of a team with such limited coverage and no real passion.

The only people that think the big 12 is 3rd best conference is themselves.

I don’t know man… it’s not in me to not wish someone well… But I certainly won’t be cheering for UCF. That dude quit taking his job seriously starting year two in Lincoln. He’s not innovative. He ran the same damn plays that he ran in Oregon and it never looked as clean or crisp. I’ll take Holgersson eight days a week over this guy.

I just saw the BYU landed the #1 basketball recruit in the country, over UNC and Kansas. They must be paying him a fortune. If BYU uses that kind of NIL money for football, they could become a national power.

I think this is honestly a huge reason why Frost legitimately enjoyed his time there and hated his life here.

I think so as well.

I mean there he is basically just a regular person. He can go out to eat, he can walk around, no one cares who he is, over here it is 24/7 coverage.

That is clearly not for everyone. If I coached at NU I would LIVE on the message boards to see what fans said about me and I would have 1620 the zone on 24/7.

Yeah, not to mention the good old boys and hangers-on coming out of the woodwork here, and all of the "Golden Boy Saving The Program" hype. Now that we know how flawed he is as a person, it's easy to see how all of that was a perfect storm.

I dunno, it's a weird situation - I legitimately enjoyed following him and his 2017 UCF team, he seemed to have a magnetic energy and his players loved him and he loved all of them, he clearly put his whole heart into what he was doing there and I don't think you can really fake it to that extent. I wish we could've gotten that guy at NU. But we didn't... And it was brutal to watch him take the program he supposedly loved so much to such ridiculous depths.

So of course I can't help but resent him for his pathetic tenure here, but if he's cleaned himself up and ends up having some decent success and seems to not hate his life anymore down there, I also can't help but root for that kind of redemption story from afar.

Scott Frost inherited a loaded team at UCF. He came to Lincoln and effed around. Didn't put in the work. After Year 2, I had seen enough. I wish he was who I wanted him to be. Such a disappointment. The worst coach in a NU history. I don't follow UCF and I'm not going to follow UCF. I don't hate him. He'll always be a Husker. Even just as a player. I just hate how he treated our program. It's like he didn't care.

They have money. They survived as an independent for a decade. I think they could become a Big 12 power.

Honestly I don't see him being successful. After watching him coach here I'm left with no choice but to conclude that his success at UCF was an illusion created by luck and circumstances. The guy did NOT know how to coach at Nebraska. His game plans were terrible. He had no ability to adjust. When adversity hit he stood on the sideline slow-blinking with his arms crossed. He repeatedly provided chalkboard material to other programs. You can go on and on. He just wasn't good and I don't see that magically changing just because he's not in Lincoln.

Too bad it’s not like it is now, where he could have brought his whole team to Nebraska with him.

Yes the Mormons are very rich. $150,000,000,000 should cover some nice recruits. I wonder if they can have the NIL arm be apart of the church. Church donations are tax deductible.
