The 90's are gone brah. Scott Frost had a magical two year run at a Florida school in the AAC. It was always going to take more work at a Nebraska school in the B1G.
Truth is UCF should be an easier gig in the Big 12. There is no Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, Washington, Penn State in that league. Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Illinois, Rutgers, or Minnesota would've contended for the conference crown this year.
Let's be honest about a couple things here. Nebraska has a far richer history and more resources than UCF. It's a far older University and football program that has won numerous titles. But Nebraska has to overpay to keep up because they need kids from Florida, Texas or California. UCF is deceivably large and growing. They are very close to AAU status and have a growing alumni base that are rabid. There is a very large NIL base around Orlando. It's going to be easier to be lazy in Orlando and in that conference.
Nebraska needs to compete with at least five programs that have as much or better resources than themselves. Nebraska can't even say they have a richer history than four of those. If Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, USC or Oregon have a class outside the top 15 they're considered "bad" classes. A top 20 class at Nebraska is considered good. I mean it, Frost and Rhule are criticized for wasting talent.
UCF has who that recruits top 25 classes in their league? Who has a rich history in the Big 12? Colorado with one title? BYU with one title? So if Frost wins ten games at UCF and makes the playoffs with a bye like ASU, it really doesn't mean he's suddenly become what Husker fans thought he would be back in 2017.
