I dont know what you were watching but I know at least once and i think twice he was beat covering Gurley 1 on 1.

Rose colored glasses? Ha thats funny. If that means I know how hard it is for LBs to cover RBs out of the backfield 1 on1 (first round RBs at that) then I guess you are right. Especially running crossing routes which Gurley was running.

Just curious if you couldve showed me a LB on that roster that would have covered Gurley and stopped those plays. The guy was a number 1 pick for a reason. I expect Michael Rose to be our best LB this year barring injury and imo thats saying something. Bando is much improved and Young is as talented a true freshman than we have had around here in while.

3. Rose would've made a significant difference in the blitz game. On the 40yard completion by Mangum on 3rd and long to set up their final field goal, Gifford was actually sent on a blitz. He not only telegraphed the blitz, but tool a poor angle of pursuit. I believe Rose-Ivey makes that play and the course of the game changes.

I can point to 6 plays where Rose-Ivey makes a play that Gifford could not.

Nebraska's biggest issue defensively was the inability of the pass rush to create enough disruption. Nebraska finished with 3 sacks, but it should've been half a dozen.

And I know nobody wants to tip their hats to BYU, but let's be honest, their QBs and Wideouts often made some insane plays. Their cohesiveness was insane.

The amount of cushion their receivers had and the number of times a DB was beat deep even given this cushion is a systemic problem. Couple that with a lack of a pass rush and we have real issues right now. Yes I think we did a decent job stopping regular running plays but if the pass defense does not improve in a hurry we are facing some experienced QBthat will bury us this year. If we do not get this fixed people would look at 7 wins and think " maybe we can get there" by the ends of the year

We are certain that with Rose we are getting more than the young kid who was nowhere near ready to see the field. We only needed one play to be made to won that game. Rose would have at least made a handful.

Young will be a monster as well and may have as much upside as any. Mando if what I seen game 1 is any indication is on the uptick as well. Not good depth but if healthy we will be good a g LB for the next couple years.

He can stop the run when a play is in front of him but his pass coverage isn't good. Holla......

Well id have to say, after watching the USA game and Rose being back did indeeed make a huge difference, the dude was all over the field, i believe he record 10 pkus tackles and USA had under 20 yards rushing for the game. Rose indeed makes a huge difference and account for Josh and Young both out for the game. Our defense looks very good against the run, i can imagaine having all starting LBs in the same game, teams will be ine dimensional. Now if Davie and Rose can finish on there pass coverage our defense will be good.

Cmon man. The kid makes plays and IS IN FACT our best backer. He has been almost from the first day he stepped on the field for us. The size of his ass has nothing to do with kind of player he is.

MRI set a freshman all-time record for tackles as a linebacker at NU. He IS in fact our best linebacker.

They have all 3 been on the field this year. You havent seen them? Ill help you out. Bando and Young played in the first game against BYU and BOTH were very effective in the game. Rose was suspended and didnt play in that game.

Rose played against USA and was probably the best defender on the field that game. In fact one could easily argue that Rose has been the best LB at NU since his Freshman year. Id agree with that argument myself. Bando and Young were both injured for the USA game and didnt play.

SO for a recap in game 1 both Young and Bando had pretty good damn games. Considering Young was a true freshman Id say he had an EXCEPTIONAL game but again thats just me.

Game two Bando and Young were injured and Rose had a really good game. About par for course for MRI.

HOPEFULLY come Saturday they all are on the field together and we get to see how they look TOGETHER. Im honestly looking forward to it and i stand by my original comments. Hope that helps ya!
