In all honesty, I think Rhule is afraid to pull DR in the game. Despite how poorly he has played the last 2 games, a coach who is committed to "trying to win" would have given Dylan some pine time before the game was decided and inserted HH just to see if he could spark the offense.Run the ball or lose the game.
You don't have to pull him until midway in the 2nd quarter, but for chriminy sakes, the offense was doing nothing. It has to be frustrating for HH to come in, run for 9 yards, get pulled almost not to be seen again. Is there a remote chance that NU could have actually moved the ball on the ground with the running threat?
Just as Rhule is protecting his buddies Foley, Satt and Mcguire, he is also protecting Dylan from looking bad by making even a temporary change.
I'm not dogging DR, nor am I promoting HH, its just any coach worth a shit doesn't send up the white flag until they've exhausted any potential weapons that may help alter the outcome.
Would NU have won that game yesterday, of course not. But you send a bad message to the team that you worry more about one player than the success of then entire team.
Again it’s the offensive coordinator that’s the problem..We seen what he did with three QB’s last year.. It’s obvious in his second year here he is pass happy and doesn’t like staying with the run game..
But, you know, Rhule can sack up and tell Satt, "we're gonna run the ball." Who's the boss?
I want to know which one of the walk-on 4th string left tackles gets to go in Rhule's office at 5 in the morning when he's sleeping and wake him up?
He builds for the future and not to win now, we knew that going in. He's totally invested in DR as he's the best option and hardest work ethic. I would love to see them use the weapons they have , meaning HH more.
“Building for the future” is the go to phrase for present day losers
No point in trying to win now with 16 returning starters as Seniors and a 5* QB to run an offense.
I don't think NU magically just wins 10 games next year,
It buys you time, "Don't look here, look there,"
This just isn’t a viable excuse in today’s CFB world.
You need momentum. With the transfer portal, not only is that no longer an excuse… But if you aren’t showing out - the portal becomes your greatest enemy.
You simply cannot afford to hide behind the “builder” mantra in today’s CFB.
If Rhule tries to do that this off season, instead of getting rid of some staff dead weight in favor of a couple elite recruiters… I will have a lot less faith in his long term ability to be successful here.
It's not hiding, it's what he is, excepting it is another thing. People need to stop supporting the sorry ass program and demand change.
Agree. Look at the guys history. He was run out of South Carolina last year. Look at his résumé. He is 0% qualified to be the offensive coordinator anywhere let alone the University of Nebraska.
If he truly said this, he should have been fired right after saying something stupid like that. The best way to make fans happy is coming up with a game plan that helps win games not worrying if players and fans will get bored!
Got a gut feeling, for some reason, we're going to find out after next week how this offense looks with Haarberg at the helm full time.

Satterfield doesn't know what he's doing. He wasn't good at Syracuse and has developed no offensive identity here through 2 seasons. No flow. No continuity. No philosophy.
Unfortunately, I think if the Ohio State game in any way resembles the Indiana game, an "injury" is going to dog our current #1 right up until portal time.

They haven’t the last several years. Back in 2007 they did, the games when Oklahoma St had 38 on us at halftime or K State dropping 73 on us. Fans filing out at halftime was noticed. It appears that anymore the empty seats make no difference, money has already been collected no matter what so who cares.
Heinrich isn't a dynamic runner, he doesn't have a career in the NFL as a runner..he is stiff, has poor lateral movement and poor vision. And he won't stay healthy running it 20x a game. Dylan is dynamic, but like every qb under Satt he has regressed...he is the fourth qb to play under Satt at NU and all have gotten worse as their playing time has increased.
Agreed. These coaches have all the weapons and more that they need to scheme a good offense, but they don’t know how to use those weapons. This is starting to have that old familiar feeling. We can rationalize and have hope, but there are definitely warning signs popping up.
IF DR is banged up I would feed Haarberg to the lions in Columbus and spare Raiola for the stretch run. 😕
I was hoping Raiola would show a willingness to pull it down and scramble. A college QB who is unwilling to take off is not going to get it done. He’s not as quick as Mahommes but he can be Big Ben. I thought this year was our best shot at winning versus next year but putting it all on a true freshman QB was asking too much. Our play balance is ludicrous. 😕.

I think he got his shoulder dinged against Rutgers. I mentioned his arm dangling like he had a stinger in one of the game threads. He obviously has a right ankle issue.
I would sit Raiola at OSU just to keep him from getting eviscerated.
NU's best chance is OSU looking ahead to next week's game against PSU.
Play Raiola. Games like this will make or break him. Hell, he was recruited by Ohio State. He’s slow, but he’s not a cripple. It’s okay to fail. It’s not okay to fail to try. Kid is tough! Let him play through this.

If DR isn't dinged up and you sit him, its a horrible message to send to the team and the fans.
You're right, these are the type of games 5* kids should live for. Play your ass off, take a beating in the process, but show the type of toughness that's expected at the next level.
They don't get to take a powder in the NFL cause they're a little banged up. All the QB's are banged up after 7 games into the season.
I believe it’s obvious that he’s dinged up. That ankle alone doesn’t explain the refusal to throw deep balls.

Not here for the negativity towards Dylan, but HH getting after Fidone and Fidone responding was the lone positive I saw Saturday.
True. In fact I don’t think they scored a single point with him as the OC at Syracuse.
