Gunderson tweet indicates good news. Anyone know what it is?...

I think it's about Joseph Lewis vising Nebraska again on an unofficial visit (there's another thread on it). This is great news, but I kind of wish it was about Darnay Holmes committing to Nebraska (which we know won't happen until late 2016 / early 2017).

With a little more than a month left until he’s set to announce his commitment, Tyjon Lindsey is taking every opportunity to see his finalists.

Fresh off a dominant performance at The Opening, the four-star receiver from California visited Auburn and Alabama over the weekend. On Friday, he’ll head to Ohio State for the Buckeyes’ Friday Night Lights event. This all comes a few weeks after Lindsey was in Lincoln on June 24 for the Huskers’ own FNL camp.

It’s a busy stretch for Lindsey with his Aug. 22 decision date drawing closer. All four of those schools are in the mix to receive his commitment — as are a handful of others — but most have pegged the Huskers and Buckeyes as favorites. Lindsey is a member of our Huskers Big Board, a list of the recruits being pursued most heavily by Nebraska.

Lindsey’s childhood friend, five-star quarterback Tate Martell, committed to Ohio State earlier this summer, but Lindsey is also friends with Husker commits Keyshawn Johnson Jr. and Tristan Gebbia. He’s tight with several other targets on both sides, so there’s plenty drawing him to both Lincoln and Columbus.

Lindsey wasn’t the only “Calibraska” recruit that’s been on the move lately.

With Lindsey on that trip down South were Husker targets Jamire Calvin and Brendan Radley-Hiles (Lindsey’s cousin). Calvin, who attended the NU spring game, has Alabama in his top eight. Radley-Hiles, who also recently visited Ohio State, tweeted that he set the Alabama record for interceptions at a camp.

Radley-Hiles’ teammate at Calabasas High School — Darnay Holmes — is also taking visits. He was in South Florida on Tuesday for a satellite camp hosted by Florida Atlantic featuring coaches from Indiana, Kansas and Mississippi State. Fellow Husker target — 2018 running back TJ Pledger — was also there.

According to 247Sports, both Holmes and Pledger will then travel to Notre Dame for a visit later this week. Holmes has the Fighting Irish among his top schools, and is expected to take his official visit to Nebraska for the Fresno State game on Sept. 3.

Another five-star from California is expected to visit Lincoln sooner than that. According to both Husker Online and Huskers Illustrated, Joseph Lewis will be in town next week from July 25-27. According to
Rivals, Lewis will be joined on the trip by fellow target Jalen Hall, a 2018 prospect, and trips to Alabama and Tennessee are also on the itinerary.

This will be the second visit to NU in a month for Lewis, as he was on campus for the June 24 FNL camp. The reports of Lewis’ visit prompted this response from NU director of player personnel Ryan Gunderson.

In other news concerning Husker Big Board targets:

» Defensive end Hunter Echols told Rivals’ Washington site that he’s “100 percent open” to other schools despite his commitment to UCLA. Echols, a teammate of Calvin at Los Angeles Cathedral, has been pledged to the Bruins since February but has remained a top target of Nebraska. Echols told Rivals he plans to take an official visit to Lincoln.

» After releasing a top six last week, defensive tackle Ben Hutch took it one step further. He told 247Sports that Louisville and Texas A&M are tied at the top. Hutch camped at Louisville over the weekend and hasn’t visited Nebraska yet, though he does have the Huskers’ among his top schools.

» In addition to Lindsey, another Husker Big Board member plans to be at Ohio State this weekend. Cornerback Jaylen Kelly-Powell, who visited Lincoln last month, tweeted Monday that he’ll be in Columbus for the Buckeyes’ FNL event.

» Chevin Calloway, a three-star cornerback from Dallas committed to Iowa on July 11. Calloway had an offer from NU, but the Huskers weren’t in consideration at the end. His teammate at Bishop Dunne is a top target, though. Damion Daniels visited Lincoln last month, but he’s also being heavily pursued by the Hawkeyes. Daniels visited Iowa a couple years ago when his older brother — Darrion Daniels, who ended up at Oklahoma State — was being recruited. OWH
