Kent Pavelka is still in that convo for me as wellI always thought Lyell Bremser could never be replaced..
Hasn'tI always thought Lyell Bremser could never be replaced..
Those of us old enough to remember Lyle he was one of a kind nobody could ever replace him but Greg did a excellent job in today’s world with a lot more commercials than when Lyle broadcast, I’d put Greg at number 2 behind Lyle, Kent 3Hasn't
While he was irreplaceable, Lyell often got so excited I had no idea what was happening and there was no picture to help out. Greg was far more reserved and seldom ever made a mistake. Both guys were gems!I always thought Lyell Bremser could never be replaced..
I don’t think this is a HIPAA violation or anything because he’s long gone. I met Husker Bob one time. He was in the hospital. He had an unbelievable amount of husker memorabilia in his room that was all signed. I had to see him about something minor, and he asked me if something was wrong and I said well we just lost (17-7 in the game of the century 2 to OU). He said something like cheer up it’s only a game. I thought to myself, if Hüsker Bob can say it’s only a game, then maybe I can get over this loss…While he was irreplaceable, Lyell often got so excited I had no idea what was happening and there was no picture to help out. Greg was far more reserved and seldom ever made a mistake. Both guys were gems!
(From the Lyell generation I also miss Husker Bob running through the stands leading cheers when he was surely on Social Security. I realize there were others filling this role later like the drum beater. The old times of Husker football were mostly remarkable for all of the winning but these personalities were also a big part. Too bad Greg suffered with us through so many lows in the program.)
