on prime time TV. Can this day get any worse for football?

I'm not sure if anyone can make a badly overthrown incomplete pass as exciting as Gus. It's football Gus, not basketball..

Sheesh..

I guess, it might give hope if one can lose at home to maryland then beat usc there
Not only lose to Maryland but look totally outclassed by Maryland. The final score of that game made it look much closer than it ever was.

Longhorn defense is playing inspired tonight. Ugh.......I really hate both teams!

I read Vince Young who is on staff at UT had a little talk with the players. Something about their attitude was they come to Texas and expect to win just because they are at Texas. I don't have the exact quote but it was in the lines of they have to earn the right to play at Texas, not just show up, put on an Orange jersey and expect to win.

I think we have a similar problem besides the poor coaching. If guys don't perform, bench them. Id rather have a freshman trying his hardest, than a junior or senior going through the motions. Guys need to know that if they don't perform they get benched. Even if the guy replacing them is a no experience freshman.

I turned the game off when Texas scored. Was so happy to see this morning that it went to OT and USC won.

Still, Herman has obviously turned things around in a hurry. They could have beaten the #4 team in the country, after several bad years. Gives hope to the rest of us.

The only problem with that is that many of the mistakes we make on defense are just a lack of experience in the system. SMJ makes way too many mistakes for as much as he's played at WRer for us. Our mental mistakes whether it's penalties, missed blocking assignments or missing coverage assignments are killing us. Ultimately the coaches bear responsibility for the mistakes, but man when one guy on any one given play can screw you up it's a bad deal. Bo dealt with the same thing. Maybe that's why Belicheck puts so much value on intelligence when he evaluates talent.
