You wrote, that you "accurately posted his record as a starter." You did not. He started 8 games, in those 8 games the team's record was 5-3. That makes his record as a starter 5-3. It doesn't get much simpler.So if he’d have played 1 single play, the same applies?

If you want to say the team went 5-3 in games HH started, that would be more accurate, but to say he was 5-3 is not.

Edit - Attempting to compare QB to starting pitcher is apples and oranges. To start, a pitcher is a defensive player. They are responsible for runs allowed, not points scored. A QB is an offensive player they are responsible for points scored not points allowed. So, even if one wanted to use that argument, when the QB left the game and what the score would be backward to baseball, it would be based on points scored vs runs allowed.
