Gbayor gone

The good news we can hit the portal and bring in what we need. I think Rhule is actually pretty good at selling this. Deion flipped a ton of their roster and is doing just fine.

We have some soft fvcking losers… no wonder these guys didn’t come up big when, I don’t know… a Iowa RB breaks 8 tackles to ice the game

If you start at a P4 and move on, you are either a freaking badasss or you have serious delusions of grandeur

Seemed like a run stuffer that had limited ability in coverage and rushing the passer. Just my opinion, could be wrong. I think this d needs linebackers that are a little more well rounded to take the next step. Shavers looks like he could be that mold. Same for Christian Jones based on measureables.

I wish him well. Personally would've like him back but at this point it is what it is. Let's face it with a lot of these guys we haven't been able to win more than 6 games with them to begin with in 5-6 years. So seriously I won't cry over losing many of those older guys tbh

Thanks for putting the work in and helping and wish them well.

This is probably a good thing. He is a holdover from the full on losing mentality. I've said this for weeks that we need most of the Frost era guys out of here. They bring losing and we need to rid the program of that.

This is excuse is so tiring. If a few guys can dismantle 100 guys then how soft are the newbies? In 2 years when DR is gone and we’re fighting for 5 or 6 wins it’ll be Rhule’s kids mentality for the 5th time in the past 20 years. Yawn!!

Whatever. If those are your so called leaders and all they've done is wilt, I don't want those guys anywhere near the guys who actually know how to win. Agree to disagree, but Rhule should have flipped the roster when he first got here and built it like he did at other stops by playing a ton of youngsters and getting them reps. Continuing to play guys who didn't accomplish anything before didn't do us any favors. Yeah, there are a few outliers, but that is about it.

Agreed, it's so weird attacking our own, and kids who have worked their asses off and earned significant playing time. If these "fans" think winning is going to happen without a significant amount of senior leadership, they are very wrong. And then what do you know, the next group of underclassmen grow up to be losers and repeat the cycle. I'm not losing sleep over losing Gbayor, but it's definitely not a net positive type of player to be transferring out.

Why do you want seniors to lead you that suck? I mean seriously. The same thing in business. You want leaders who are good at what they do, not guys who love to talk that never produce and are the ones making the mistakes. Results on the field are the only thing that matter and most of our "older" guys haven't had many results. I'll take my chances at trying to make future leaders who might achieve something. Nash & Ty earned that right. Most others didn't.

Our recruiting needs to pick up tremendously to have a roster full of Ty Robinsons. In the current state of Nebraska football, that is nothing but a pipedream. Since I'm not in the business of wishful thinking, losing contributors who have started double digit games for us is a net loss. Teams that outperform their talent level tend to have a lot of upperclassmen contributors. That's not really a coincidence.

But think about what you are saying. What would happen to all the younger guys with no experience you throw to the wolves? Theyd lose. So you are back to the problem you think you are solving and have a bunch of guys who “didnt accomplish anything”.

Its actually not difficult to flip the mentality of players. Happens all the time, and the ones who dont get left behind. I mean practice habits and work ethic, being coachable, etc.

The one thing that is hard to change is expecting to lose in very close games. That one is tough. But I dont think just playing a bunch of youngsters fixes that, especially if they arent ready, if you get what Im saying.

Would they lose? We don't know that. I will agree that you need a little bit of a mix, but where Rhule really ****ed up was not just cutting all of the dead weight when he first came in. When you inherit a losing mentality you need to cut most of that fat out. That is what made him successful at other stops. He played a ton of young guys at Baylor and SOB they started to win games. I'd much rather see a young guy figure it out over trotting guys like Gifford out there who continue to do nothing for the program. He should have kept guys like Nash & Ty and maybe a few others, but most of those guys should have been processed.

You can really ruin young guys if they arent ready.
I get what you are saying and I agree regarding a few guys, but you are making it sound easier to do than it actually is

It isn't easy whatsoever, but Rhule went about it in the wrong way in my opinion. In year 1 he had all of the grace in the world. We could have won, 1 game, but if you saw progression and we played a ton of young guys there would be reason for optimism. Instead he went a different route and now we are in a shitty position. I like that Rhule is trying to change, but he royally miscalculated what the CFB landscape was going to look like and was caught with his pants down. If NU wants to be good they are going to need to act like a big boy and go buy players and indirectly tamper like all of the other schools do. The days of NU so called doing things the "right way" should be over. Go start buying studs and compliment them with your perceived notion that you are good with developing players.

You did it again. If we play young guys and they win 1 game, then the next season you have a bunch of players who have never done anything and are losers, right? Do you see that this would not fix the very problem you are complaining about?
All the old guys you are complaining about were once playing as young guys.
Last year and this year we did play some young guys, quite a few actually. One is in the portal.

This has nothing to do with doing things the “right way” morally. Its just completely impractical.

Im not trying to argue with you and I get your premise, and as I said I agree regarding a few guys. I just think its impractical to do and would leas to the same issue you dont like. Does that make sense?

Fully agree on buying players in the portal. We should also be finding ways to illegally funnel big ten money into NIL to buy players, and if we arent dannen isnt doing his job.

I hate it. I hate what cfb has become and honestly my fandom is going to continue to lessen. But it is what it is.
