Gbayor gone

Good run stuffer. Kind of seemed like a liability against the pass. Will be interesting to see if he grows into a more well rounded player.

You did it again. If we play young guys and they win 1 game, then the next season you have a bunch of players who have never done anything and are losers, right? Do you see that this would not fix the very problem you are complaining about?
All the old guys you are complaining about were once playing as young guys.
Last year and this year we did play some young guys, quite a few actually. One is in the portal.

This has nothing to do with doing things the “right way” morally. Its just completely impractical.

Im not trying to argue with you and I get your premise, and as I said I agree regarding a few guys. I just think its impractical to do and would leas to the same issue you dont like. Does that make sense?

Fully agree on buying players in the portal. We should also be finding ways to illegally funnel big ten money into NIL to buy players, and if we arent dannen isnt doing his job.

I hate it. I hate what cfb has become and honestly my fandom is going to continue to lessen. But it is what it is.

I can't speak for him but IMO the one variable that we are missing is that the "young players" are more talented than the older players in most cases. Thus all they are missing is experience. When they get it the assumption is a second year V9 will be better than a 5th year Gbayor. Or a second year Barney will be better than a 4th year "random WR". Or a 2nd year Caleb Benning will be better than a 5th year Buford or Gifford.

I THINK that's what the coaches and the op are banking on. By playing them young you MIGHT sacrifice the initial year and gain a better player for the next 3. Where as if you stick with the older guy you inherit the same "loser mentality" (hate to call it that). As well as kinda stunting the growth of a very talented first year guy with big potential.

I think there is a middle ground somewhere in there and it's a very slippery one. I do wonder though if Rhule privately wished he would've done it the other way now.
