How mans defensive starters were out today? Seriously the 4 game sky is falling is just well stupid. Seriously how many games has the team had all 11 starters that were expected to start the season.

The foolishness on here is rising as a brain cells are lowering.

Our backups should be better than Southern Miss' starters. They've beaten like 3 FBS teams in the last 3 years. They are a bad C-USA team.

We were nearly last in the NCAA stats for most penalties per game before today and added 12 more today. That's coaching.

Check out our total defense rank. Even worse after today. Our offensive ranking has been saved by Southern Alabama & 4th quarter of the Miami games.

I never thought I'd question getting rid of Pelini but if this is the best we could get to replace him ,we might as well have kept him and made him earn that big salary he is getting.

Bo Pelini and his recruiting philosophy (Oh, it's so hard to recruit at Nebraska...poor me) is why we have the football team that we have. Bo Pelini is the mistake that keeps on giving and will continue on to keep on giving for the next three years at least. Save your criticism of Mike Riley till such time that the players that he recruits for his system are not performing to the standard.

We are not good right now. But if you talk to those who have followed Riley for years his teams have a tendency to start slow and get better from October on. We can only hope that is the case with this team.

It shouldn't be as hard to recruit to Nebraska as it is at most schools. But it's unfortunate we're going to have to wait until it's too late.

If this is your argument, then I fully expect to have a top 5 recruiting class this year. Let's not lie to ourselves, and pretend that Riley wasn't dealt much better players, depth, and talent than he had at Oregon State.

I mean, that was the argument from so many here on why Eichorst hired him, right?

Really, what is different from what we've seen from Solich, Callahan, or Pelini?

No answer? I'll answer it for you. Nothing is different. Here is what we have seen and are still seeing:

A team that gets up by 2 or 3 touchdowns and thinks this is easy so they let up and don't think they have to try anymore.

A team that comes out slow but picks it up in the second half and makes a game of it.

A team that comes out fast but lets up and lets the other team make a game of it.

A team that turns the ball over at the worst time.

A team that commits a mental penalty at the worst time.

A team that has weaknesses obvious to everyone (let alone the coaches), but no one on the coaching staff knows how to correct those weaknesses.

A team that doesn't know how to finish games.

A team that isn't a team.

So, basically a Bo type team that is still engrained in this team with no depth and still learning a new system. It will take more than a few games to get the old habits out of this team that have been plaguing Nebraska for the last 7 years!!

This staff is making the same mistake that Bo's group did: no accountability for penalties. Everyone makes mistakes and you don't want a team playing scared of getting pulled, BUT if you continually get called for penalties/fumble.....well, you get yanked. Are you seriously telling me that Sterup/Thurston/Foster can't come in for a series or two when guys like Lewis are making back-breaking mistakes???????

Like yanking Davies after he showed he was just going to keep getting burned?

Tell me one thing I've complained about that isn't a valid criticism. I'd be saying the same thing if Bo was still coaching and this was happening. It isn't a personal thing, it's an observation thing.

Nothing you've complained about could be called valid criticism, because you're expecting them to fix massive problems, in an incredibly short period of time.
