I don't think any of us expected to win last night. It's hard to beat a top-25 team on the road, much less a top-10 team the caliber of OSU. But I don't think any of us expected so complete and embarrassing a defeat.

Expecting Nebraska to be able merely to do what teams like Penn State, Indiana, and Northwestern have been able to do (hang around with OSU) was not unrealistic.

People bandying about a 7-2 record as evidence of significant progress are no better than those who defended Pelini's 9-win seasons.

Fresno State is 1-9. They are one of the worst teams in football.
Wyoming is 7-2. This is Nebraska's best win of the season.
Oregon is 3-6. They are having a historically terrible season.
Northwestern is 4-5. They may or may not even get a bowl game.
Illinois is 3-6. We struggled until the fourth quarter.
indiana is 5-4. They will likely finish 6-6 with games left against PSU and Michigan.
Purdue is 3-6. We struggled with them until the fourth quarter.

Many, many Nebraska teams in the last 15 years would have beaten these seven marginal opponents. Nebraska is a mediocre football team that was blessed with an insanely easy set of seven opponents to begin the season.

We are an average team. We are an average program. I see little evidence this will change anytime soon.

I've got nothing against Riley. He's a hell of a nice guy and represents the program, university, and state very well.

I hope he can get us where we need to be. But that's all there is anymore: hope. Not evidence. Just hope.

This years team has accomploshed nothing different than it has the last 3 years. Bottomfed wins and lose the ones that matter. Only difference is the staff. Same result unfortunately. Not quite sure what the answer is......

Need to wait the season out and especially wait until signing day to make any proclamations

I agree, yes we are 7-2 but not a good 7-2. We could have easily lost everyone we won. We could easily lose the next 3 and end of 7-5. Not far off from last year. Will people still be as up beat and excited about that? Will people still be saying we are back? This teams is no better than last year. Only difference was last year was a fluke of bad luck and bad breaks. As well as the BO poison still flowing through many of the players. Almost anything was going to look better than last year. Fundamentally at every level we have a long way to go.

Maybe you should switch conferences again?

Maybe you should act like a D1 program and pay for a field that doesn't look like a junior high practice field...and about making a bowl game. In that order.

Uh... we just played in the playoffs. I haven't heard someone describe Owen Field as a junior high field ever until tonight.

I guess we will try to make a bowl this year then... maybe that number 3 class we are bringing in will help turn things around for future seasons. Good luck in with the rest of your season and your bowl this year.

Our recruiting class is sitting at 25th at the moment.

Sorry, thought you were a Northwestern fan. At any rate, I doubt we'll be changing conferences any time soon. The B1G will be making more dough than any conference within the next year or two.
