Fyfe Injury

Am I totally delusional about how much I like Darlington? I feel like the kid is a gamer and TBH if he had be practicing at QB all year I would have wanted him to start over Fyfe. A couple weeks is not very long to be trying to come back in and play...

Has Darlington taken a real hit since high school? Honest question.

Is this true or not? If it's true we are in some serious trouble.... I guess we will hear more at today Presser...????

The kid may have/had talent, but you generally don't come out of the woodwork of being a placeholder and negotiate a road win at the D1 level. Certainly I liked the kid, but he left the QB fold quite a while ago.

It would be more of a miracle, than anything.

Sounds like either TA has to suit up or we are down to 3rd string emergency QB aka Matt Terminator/Darlington situation to beat the Chickenhawks. None throw hand is good but given all the play action and read stuff we do......QB needs 2 good hands.

it was an even matchup last year

our QB threw 4 INTs including a pick 6 -- regardless of who plays we would be hard pressed to get worse QB play vs last year

Iowa's QB was 9-16 for 97 yards which was plenty good for the win

It's going to turn in to a field position game most likely and Iowa will expect us to turn the ball over. My main concern will be our special teams and our punter who at any given time may only net us 20 yards.

Yes... Darlington's career almost ended before college due to concussions. If I remember correctly his last concussion was very serious
Well don't look now but he's been on the team for years and has been practicing at WR. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he's been tackled between high school and now.

Last we saw him was a Spring Game, and he looked solid.

Darlington was a QB in this system all of last year and switched to WR before this spring.

He should have some knowledge of the offense. He was the emergency QB earlier in the season, so he could be ready for Iowa.

I think that was his point. Has he taken a hit, as in, do we know if he is really "healthy" enough to take hits in live action, given how bad his concussion history is.

Can a winning game plan be crafted for ZD? He was a pretty salty dual threat QB in high school. Way late to burn POB's shirt.

I say we do whatever is necessary and gives us the best chance to beat Iowa. And if that means burning a redshirt (assuming POB is our best option) then so be it. He was recruited to play football and help the program. Well... if we need him we need him and he should play.

How stupid would we look if we try to beat Iowa with our less talented QB, lose the game, and then watch Minny upset Wisky? Minny is a good team. It is possible. We ain't out of this yet. Play our best players damn it

At least the right side of our OL blocks great and Darlington wouldn't get hit anyways...

Gotta assume he is ready to roll injury-wise considering he's been fully cleared for years now and continues to practice and be on the team.

Block for DPE on his returns, and we can win. Now, if we would just open the pocket-book to pay someone enough to come in here and put together a scheme.

Then why hasn't he taken a single single snap as our QB in a real game? Answer, he isn't really ready to play without the risk of serious injury.

You people wanting to save POB for several years down the road on the off chance he is the starter or even here are making a big mistake. I say ask POB, if he wants to do it , then you do it.

There's a major assumption here. POB would say yes.

POB may want a whole other season, rather than a couple of potential L's.

Guy wants to make the NFL too, he has millions of bucks riding on the decision and he probably maximizes his chances by sitting.

It would be stupid to pull POB's red shirt. Either just play Fyfe as is (like Archie Manning in his final bowl game - OK, it was just 1 QB sneak at the goal line, but you get the pictgure), or reduce the hell out of the play book for Tommy. Only options.

Get ready for an Io_a boat race either way. Oh well, it was a good season while it lasted.

Riley has said POB is not ready yet and was adamant he would not pull his shirt prior to Minnesota.

You are entitled to your opinion, I just don't get it a this point.

It's called doing what gives you the best chance of winning. If that happens to be POB, then you do it.

IF, I said IF, POB wants to do it, then you do it. If not, then you go to plan D, because that's where we're at now. Plan D, if POB doesn't suit up and play.

We can run the ball, throw short pass and still be in the game. I don't see Iowa scoring enough points to blow us out, no matter who is QB.

He still had a healthy Fyfe when he said that, and was TA possibly out for the season at that point?

Things change. If POB wants to do it, then we're effing stupid for not doing it.

He's also got nine wins in his back pocket and a potential bowl win with a healthy Fyfe and/or TA.

No reason to pull POB's shirt.
