Then don’t get married to your own decisions, hold that coach accountable, demand results, don’t prematurely extend their contract and then fire them when they don’t live up to expectations. Also a public push for NIL funding would help, like they do for football and volleyball.
Administration is not in absolved from blame in this situation. They don’t put enough pressure on basketball to perform. They don’t think they need to put in the same effort into bolstering NIL contributions for basketball. They don’t hire the right coaches, the prematurely extend their contracts and then their too cheap to fire those coaches when the writing has been in the wall for years.
