Football Coaches > Nice Guys

Not surprised

Same guy who thinks posting our head coach’s W-L record is wildly unfair

I tried telling you...you're wasting your time trying to have any kind of legitimate sports discussion with that guy. He's a lying piece of shit who actually believes his own lies. That's an exercise in futility my friend. There's a reason he's the first and only person, in all of my years of any kind of online message boards, who I finally put on ignore.

I don't see why he would. Rhule has always been pretty direct and honest, some are just tired of hearing it from him because we haven't won enough. I don't think he will have any issue with DH doing the same.
Agree – they have had him Miked up and MR goes for “hard coaching”. He shoots it straight to the players. to the press and us he puts on the frosting.

WR blocking is the biggest issue this team has this year. Been an issue since day 1. We have no screens, no perimeter running and can’t beat a blitz because of it. Really handcuffs us and puts a lot of pressure on dylan and the Oline.
I’d like to know, and it might be answered the next couple of weeks if the same WRs keep playing, has it been pi$$ poor coaching or a lack of ability as to why they weren’t blocking. If those guys keep playing and suddenly start blocking then to me it’s completely an indicator that the position coach was failing.

I think saying something like he won’t have to wake up DH in his office is intentionally misleading and disingenuous.

You are completely taking out of context a
story, unrelated to the discussion at hand to push one of your fair tale narratives. It’s what you do, non stop. But I am beyond tired of going in circles with you over these crazy town theories in your head, as I do actually come here to talk Nebraska football, so have the last word, I’m done.
In case you haven't figured it out yet, anybody who is that up and down and largely negative all the time has a personality disorder. Sometimes he has valid points but he just beats thing to death. His persistent vehement anger towards Rhule is an irrational manifestation and it seems to dominate every waking minute.

That isn't true. Not only does kong have a personality disorder, but so does EVERYONE else in here.

Except me, of course.

Yeah, most of us have some issue coloring their everyday existence. Obviously by my post count I don't have a life and am just a little OC. The good news is that with the reclassification of ADD I can say I'm on the spectrum so I've got that going for me...

Sorry I don’t put up with lying pilferers actively running our beloved program further into the ground.

Rhule is a nice guy. Nice guys don’t cut it in highly competitive businesses. As evidenced by his record.

Fan is short for fanatic, after all. If I ever saw NGMR out and about I’d boo him to kingdom come.

If that were true I’d miss the mark a lot more often. But I don’t.

Nebraska Football represents the great people of our great state. I don’t live in NE or work with anyone from NE.

When I introduce myself to people and tell them where I grew up and went to school, here’s the first thing they say:

Boy those Cornhuskers sure suck

reminder that @headtard called me a spinster 2 years ago for having the bravery to suggest Klieman would've been a better hire than Rhule . he is not someone who has earned the right to be taken seriously.

This is some crazy spin. It's like starting with the desired narrative and then desperately trying to find something to support it.

Ruhle inherited a disaster. While Kilieman took over a stable program coached by a hall-of-fame coach. And Ruhle "falls flat" against teams standing in the way of conference titles? He lost twice to an OU team that made the playoffs by 3 points each time. Klieman hasn't sniffed that kind of success. I wouldn't be unhappy with hiring Klieman, but to me, he isn't even close to being on Ruhle's level.

If the current East/West setup were to stay, I believe Ruhle would have us winning this division consistently.

hilariously, he made this post exactly a month before Klieman won the conference by beating a team who played for the national championship.

You just confirmed my point. It's personal. The fact that your draw such a large part of your personal well being from a football team is not healthy. Some of us care a great deal, maybe too much, but we're not obsessing over every perceived short coming of the head coach or his staff.

It has nothing to do with my personal wellbeing and everything to do with my home state and alma mater being viewed as a punching bag/laughing stock

I have a family, I have small kids, I am successful and growing in my career. If NU shuttered the football program I would be just fine.

I do care about our reputation and I am a proud Nebraskan and Husker.

It would be nice to have leaders producing a product worthy of the 92k in Memorial Stadium and the 1.5M Huskers they represent.

The growing apathy I see here is the canary in the coal mine for the death of our #1 source of civic pride as Nebraskans.

I share facts and actually talk about Nebraska football. I haven't lied about anything on this board, some may not agree with my opinion, but Im not on here lying. Can you say the same? Don't answer we all know.

Here are some facts for you. It is a fact that you joined this board to talk about Deion Sanders and only Deion Sanders. That you spent your first posts pretending to have inside information that he was going be our Head Coach and have spent the past two years sucking him off and trashing Nebraska because you aren't a Nebraska fan. You are a troll. But you don't actually know anything about football (like most Coach Prime fanboys) so you suck at it.

I don't draw any personal angst from what people outside of Nebraska think about our football team. Some of us aren't so quick to jump down that coal mine shaft from week to week based on the performance of the team. Some of us realize that what Tom said is very true, "winning is hard". Some of us are willing to let a guy make changes to his staff and then will be patient to see what that does for the team. The personal attacks aren't viewed as reasonable by most of us watching a guy do everything he can and working his ass off to try to win.

it's not week to week.

we haven't won a football game since October 5th.

we haven't won a football game in November in 2 years.

you've spent your entire life in south dakota. I don't even know that your kids are Husker fans.

It's people like me who put Nebraska in a position to compete. not ambivalent, sanctimonious cheap seaters who could care less how many years go by without any modicum of success.

if you don't think our biggest boosters are ravenous fanatics who are personally eaten up by our constant losing, you're sadly mistaken.

we need more like me, not less.

that's fine, by the way. to each their own.

I'll even let him talk down to me and espouse his wisdom via condescending lecture after condescending lecture.

all that matters to me is winning. now and in the future.

and that's why every time I see LOSER behavior from the man who's supposed to be leading a WINNING culture, I will point it out. Rhule and every other NU coach get no quarter from me. that's the way WINNERS operate.

I’ve tailgated with some of our biggest boosters. Guys with multiple parking spots in the lot just east of the stadium. They’re not losing their mind. They’re unhappy with the losing but they’re also not frantically calling Rhule names on social media. If anything they’re upset with Trev over the 8 year contract but they’re not ready to ditch Rhule either.

you've tailgated with them, I receive daily/weekly texts from them. I've known multiple 6-figure+ annual donors (and one 10-figure donor) for 15 years. attended the Rose Bowl with them, gone to the Big House with them.

including one who shared a backyard with Trev. we've enjoyed many a cigar together. I've attended dozens of family weddings with them.

each one has sent me a text in the last 24 hours saying they wish DH was our coach after 1 single presser.

you don't hear it because you don't want to. or you're not close enough.

You say that but you do seem pretty fixated on stuff that doesn't have anything to do with winning. And being "right" seems much more important to you than anything. When you find yourself locked in step with a couple of recycled trolls in thread after thread, that should tell you something.

if you don't think every single breath a head coach takes impacts a winning/losing culture, you simply don't get it.

dingle doesn't donate to NIL. I do. that alone should tell you who cares more about the program.

I put my money where my mouth is. he sits back and watches and does nothing but lecture about patience and the "right way" to be a fan.

you love calling people "troll". I've got news for you - most of the people you've labeled "troll" have been spot on about this program for years and years while you white knighted for Frost and now NGMR only to wind up confused about how we're yet again up against the wall for a measly 6th win.

you don't like negativity about NU Football. I don't either. but I don't bury my head up my ass or attempt to burn people at the stake for offering any and every opinion that isn't colored by scarlet glasses.

No, the posters I label as trolls are, in fact, trolls. They haven't even been around under their current screen names for years and are very rarely "right" or "spot on" about anything. They just follow along with you because they like to talk shit and stir the pot (and you are smart enough to know it) and you like it.

I'm old enough to remember when you labeled Tuco a "troll" for calling Frost "Scooter" (funny and accurate)
and when you labeled Tetonia a "troll" for saying NGMR might be good enough to win 6-7 games/year here (if only)
and the countless times you've called Bruce 1981 a "troll" for suggesting Minn's coach is better than NGMR (sigh)

these are NU fans and longtime posters. and that's just a small sampling.

it's your thing. it's fine. I like you. without guys like you Memorial Stadium would have tumbleweeds blowing from sideline to sideline mid-game every Saturday.

but, whether you care to acknowledge it or not, you have clear and obvious and willful blinders on for any glaring red flags in North Stadium.

we can have these discussions and learn from one another and cheer side by side. it's the beauty of this forum.

Embarrassing is if a well-known casino lover and alcoholic became the head of a program and got arrested. Not if your football team loses a few games.

More embarrassing that a "well-known casino lover and alcoholic" has a more sober view of the program than Rhule.

There is a difference between Nebraska fans messing with people to get a rise (trolling), and being a straight-up troll, who is not a Nebraska fan and is only here to cause trouble. You know that and know who is doing it, but you still can;'t/won't admit it, because that is your congregation. That is who you are you are lock in step with, posters on their umpteenth screen name, openly mocking Nebraska football and rooting for them to lose, they are here to cause shit. Cool, adds up. It is kind of your thing.

Sure I want the program to do well, we all should, but I guess that isn't something we can even agree on.

I don't have on blinders, I just don't think trashing everyone and everything from day one does any good, even if you think you are "right". I think we should acknowledge the issues, which I do constantly, but creating wild make-believe narratives and conspiracy theories to go off about is just silly and unnessicary.

But we aren't going to change each other's minds. You think we should all be outside the stadium with our pitchforks after every Game, Practice, and PC. You think you make positive change by making enough negative noise to get your way (whatever that is).

I think that mindset has helped create a lot of this crazy, toxic environment around Nebraska football. I will say when I have issues and when I think it is time to move on (I don't agree with the pride some get from winning that race and being "first"). But even after I know it is time to move on, I will still hope for and root for the program to be successful. I knew Bo and Frost shouldn't have come back for their last year, but I still wanted Nebraska to win, and would have loved to have been wrong. Riley and Frost weren't my first choices during their coaching searches, but I sure wanted Nebraska to win more than I wanted to be "right" about wanting someone else.

try to be objective when reading my words. I know that is harder for some than others.

I have never and will never root for NU to lose. that's complete and utter horseshit.

Confession: I haven't been this year. I still have my season tickets in the south endzone, but I gave them to my sister and her husband a few years ago and haven't come back for a game this year. That doesn't mean I'm less of a fan or less in the know, I don't think.

This is true. Everywhere I have lived I get the same response and have to deal with the fanbases in the areas I am at. Got a little bit of reprieve from 2009-2012ish, but from 2006-present, it is pretty awful to even say that you are a Nebraska fan because we literally have no comeback.

Good news for me is North Carolina has been my best stop. The Pack suck, UNC sucks, Duke is meh and Wake sucks. It is comical as well listening to the radio bitch about how ACC gets no love. With that said, I have to deal with a ton of Penn St. fans because we have 7 offices in PA and I hate going to them because I just catch heat for the entire week.

when people call me a dirty politician who "invents his own reality", I prefer to set the record straight.

nothing - literally nothing - that I said was opinion. it all happened exactly how I said it did.

I understand that this stuff is not what NGMR apologists want to see, but your and @headcard's feelings don't change facts.
Matt Rhule was sleeping in his office. Big whoop, why is that such a big deal?

it's a big deal because he's 10-12 here and was forced to make an unprecedented outside hire at one of the most important positions in the program just weeks later amidst a 4-game losing streak.

lots of coaches spend the night in their office. this is not that.

this is the first time I've ever heard of a head coach coming to work and minutes later going to sleep on the floor of his office only to be woken up by his quarterback hitting him in the head with the door.
