The Reds have the Yankees @ home the next couple of nights. I'm expecting the worst, but hoping to be surprised. Hopefully, they'll be tired after last night. The Cubs have to go on the road to a hot Rockies team. Looks like the Cardinals have it the easiest out of the Top 3.

The Reds and the Yankees are very similar IMO. No one expected much from either team coming into the season and neither team has really good starting pitching. Both are winning basically off of scoring a ton of runs and a solid Pen. Finnegan is the only SP in that rotation that could be considered an ACE or ACE potential & he's on the DL. Winning games by scoring 8+ runs a game wont last forever. Eventually the Reds need to start winning off of starting pitching if they want to keep this up.

Same with the Yanks. Pineda & Tanaka do not scare me. Especially when you look at the what the Red Sox, Blue Jays, & even The D-Rays have at SP. Red Sox especially when they get David Price back in a few weeks, will have 2 Cy Young winners (Price & Porcello) and this year's early leading candidate Chris Sale.

Bottom line, I am really happy for you Reds fans but I think you may need to keep hopes down a little. Come June & July, when pitching starts become a major factor and teams scoring goes down, we will know if the Reds can maintain. Maybe Cincy can go shopping for a pitcher or 2 because I don't think a team the has Feldman as their #1 doing much. Pitching wins. When was the last time a junk staff won a World Series?

I am very aware of what we have in Cincy. I'm just happy not to be out of the race yet. I think the Cubs have a fantastic team, but they are playing like crap. Not sure if those rings are weighing their hands down. I expect them to pull away when they start playing like they should.

I root for my teams in a positive light. Most of your teams are not going to win it all. That doesn't mean you can't be happy along the way. As long as the Reds are competitive it will be a fun season. As long as the Cubs let the rest of the division keep it close they will be miserable, because they are supposed to run away with this thing. As a Rangers fan it's going to be a long year.

I told Cubs fans going into this season that this would not be a repeat of last year. I honestly don't think they have the SP's this year.
-Arrieta era the last few years have gone way up & he lives of the coattails of 2015. For most of his career he was a bum with the O's
-Hendricks' numbers are worse across the board thus far and he too had a career year last year. His stuff isn't as good as his numbers showed last year.
- Lester is the real deal but he's not enough.
- Lackey ok but not a top 3 SP on anyteam by any means.
- The Cubs have no 5th stater but watch out for Eddie Butler in AAA, he was a future superstar SP for Colorado until Coors field beat him up, which happens to all of them

The thing that was amazing about the Cubs in 2016 is that not one Starting Pitcher last year missed a start due to an injury. That's unheard of.I mean look at the Dodgers, every single one of the SPs in the last 3 years has hit the DL at some point in the season.

As for the Rangers, don't give up just yet. Remember 2015? They were dam awful during the first half of the year and ended up making the playoffs. When summer hits Arlington, that balls fly out of that place like Coors field. Too much talent on that team to lose. You watch, they will make a run

Does Nebraska clinch the regular season title with a win today? I don't think there is much doubt that Nebraska sweeps Penn State next week. So it seems to reason that Nebraska winning today will clinch it.

I wouldn't put losing to Penn State beyond this team. Nebraska frequently plays to the level of its competition, both up (Arizona) and down (Ohio State). A break here or there and a motivated Penn State team with nothing to lose could easily take a game or two. If Meyers still isn't healthy, there's even less margin for error.

I think Nebraska can sweep Penn State, but compound injuries (Meyers and bullpen depth), a long road trip, and a short week, I wouldn't put it past Penn State to take one.

You're feeling a little bit better about the season after that awful start, eh? Laughing

Hahaha...absolutely. Matheny has finally (almost) nailed down a lineup, Matt Adams isn't in the outfield anymore, Pham and Sierra are batting out of their minds. Most importantly, we are getting some big W's.

Penn State is simply atrocious. But that's the beauty of baseball.

I'm in St Louis watching the Cards (yay) and the Cubs (boo). Great atmosphere and a great rivalry. Reds and Brewers are both better than expected this year. Should be a fun season.

It's a thread about First Places. NL Central is just a subset. Nebraska is FIRST in the BiG TeN!

That is a negative. It's my thread and fully know what it is about. I just wish that Cincy woudn't have gotten swept by the Giants, but I suppose that I should get used to more of the same this season.
