FIRST PLACE!

SWEEP! Still alone in first place. Nice to go 5-1 vs divisional opponents. Cubs down 1-0 in the 6th.

Edit: Cubbies lose 2-0 to the Dodgers.

Disappointed in Arroyo... again. He's going to have the majority of the runs given up if this trend continues. Did you know that he gets paid as much as the rest of the pitching staff combined?

I wish he could pitch every game

i saw that votto has been awful so far which wont last. pretty impressive to be doing so well without him doing much.

STILL alone in first place. Lost 3 of 4 to the Brewers... at home. Reds have FOUR starting pitchers on the DL. Still have to play the game though.

First for another day! Unreal. May not be the best team in baseball, but us long-suffering Reds fans will take it. Cubs up a run late, so the Reds lead may stretch to 1.5 games.

Edit: Cubs do indeed beat the Brewers today. Updated standings. *does the dance* :D

watch the reds sweep em now. honestly though, cubs aren't playing too well so far. Lucky to get 2 of 3 against the brews.

I am having a hard time really caring about Cub losses so far. Winning that World Series really makes things easier to take.

ain't that the truth. I guess I expected them to start slowly. Division doesn't look too tough. Too soon for the Reds and Brewers. Cards don't look any good and the Bucs without Marte are done.

maybe let's turn this into a baseball thread, or at least an NL Central thread. I think the reason why watching the Cubs win it all last year was so awesome was that it was the culmination of an amazing build of a baseball team. Following guys like Baez, Bryant, Soler, and Russell in the minor leagues, watching them turn old crappy guys via trade into Jake Arrieta, Pedro Strop, and Kyle Hendricks, and then seeing how they blended together the free agents like Lester, Heyward (he's hitting a little bit now!), and Zobrist was really fun to see.

You can now see the Brewers trying to do the same thing and I think the Reds finally got on the rebuild train by trading Phillips and Frazier. I predict the Brewers to be the Cubs toughest competition in 2019 and 2020. They're a pretty fun team to watch. If you haven't seen Jacob Barnes pitch for them, look him up. Guy is filthy and should be the closer any day now.

I'll be interested to see how the Reds look. Looks like their young pitching could be pretty good with Reed and Garrett and maybe Finnegan if he can fix his control issues. I really wish Billy Hamilton could ever learn to hit at least a little bit. The game is better with guys like him in it, but man, he makes Heyward 2016 look like Babe Ruth.

that was a good bit. of course, we've been filling the reds stadium for years.

But they've got nothing on Yankees fans. I hate when they fill up the Ballpark here in Arlington. I remember when we (Rangers) won in 13 innings. That place was so loud. My ears hurt for a few days. Yeah, I don't hate Cubs fans. They were actually due. That was a lot of losing to get to that banner raising.

team i remembering travelling the best is twins fans a few years ago. they were loud.

Should have won Friday. Lesson for Reds pitching: Don't pitch to Rizzo! But seriously Cubs fans, don't get too comfortable. You're only a placeholder. :D

16-14 at the top and 14-16 at the bottom of the central division. Pretty close division race so far.

Eventually the Cubs will get in a groove and pull away (I hope).

The Reds are holding in there though... so far :)
