We won the Big 10 regular season! We can't do any better than this. I mean, yeah, experienced coaches were supposedly asking for interviews with Osborne 6 years ago, but we have a former legendary player with 1 year as a volunteer, so all is well.Getting shelled by a team with less than 3,000 students that doesn't offer athletic scholarships. Sounds about right.

Seems like the Big 10 is bad enough to mask issues, at least through the regular season (conference tournament play has been just as ugly outside of the Purdue game.) This team doesn't have many quality regular season non-conference wins to hang their hat on since Bolt left, either. We're not as upset as we could be, because we did win the B1G, but gosh darn it, why does Erstad suck so bad in regionals?!!

I'm not going to downplay winning the B1G regular season championship, but this pathetic, completely uninspired play time after time in the regionals is completely unacceptable. It's like Erstad does't care about the postseason.Yup, my friend calls it winning the macaroni league, where kids exhibit their artistic prowess with Elmer's glue and dry macaroni..
Disappointing? No-disappointing is dropping a game where you played hard, but just didn't come through. This is disgusting and unacceptable. I guess postseason play doesn't matter to you? We're OK with losing to Western Carolina, Yale, and Holy Cross in the last two years? So I guess Nebraska could have finished 6th in the conference. Winning a conference championship is nothing to be ashamed of. No one thought this team was CWS talented so I'd say they did a nice job winning the conference.
Is it disappointing to lose to Yale and Holy Cross? Of course. But no need to go full meltdown mode.

Don't be stupid. Zero chance Erstad is ever fired. Get real-you think Eichorst would try to fire a Husker legend? He would get run out of town. The only person who decides how long Darin Erstad coaches at Nebraska is Darin Erstad. If he wants to coach 20 more years, he will coach 20 more years. All this talk about firing him is stupid because it will never happen. Better to just accept that.Might as well start speculating who the next coach will be a NU. Erstad is NOT the answer to get us back in the thick of things in baseball. Eichorst - do your job and fix things here.
Indiana made it to the CWS a few years ago. There's no reason why we can't do that in the B1G too. The only reason why it's not shocking that we lose to teams like Yale and Holy Cross is because we've seen this crap from Erstad teams before. Excusing it because we're in the B1G is incredibly lame and letting Erstad off the hook from his failures. This is life in the Big Ten when it comes to baseball. 1966 is the last time a Big Ten team won the College World Series. The great players don't want to play in this conference. We probably shouldn't be losing to Yale and Holy Cross, but it's not like it's shocking.
There's not many Kyle Schwarber's around. And they had Sam Travis hitting behind him who was no slouch.Indiana made it to the CWS a few years ago. I could see Eichorst trying to replace him with Bolt. Former Husker: Check. Coaching experience: Check. Would he come? Probably not.Don't be stupid. Zero chance Erstad is ever fired. Erstad himself talks about getting to Omaha as a goal. I will not let "we're in the B1G" be an excuse for failure in the NCAA tournament. There's not many Kyle Schwarber's around. And they had a good hitter behind him as well.
He'd still be firing a Husker legend. I literally do not think he'd be able to get that through. There were people who were upset that Mike Anderson got fired. Think about that-Tom Osborne, the ultimate Husker legend fired a guy who had no Nebraska connections before he came as an assistant, who had failed to make the Big 12 tournament 3 years running and there were people who were upset. The howling from people if a Husker legend like Erstad was fired would be deafening. Replacing him with Bolt, even if he was willing to come, would not be good enough.I could see Eichorst trying to replace him with Bolt. Former Husker: Check. Coaching experience: Check. So we're likely stuck with Erstad.
No-it's all a mirage. They're in the B1G you see, so they can't win. We have to keep repeating that, because otherwise we have to hold Erstad accountable for his failures.Seems like Iowa has their own Kyle Schwarber and they are red hot right now....![]()
Listening to scouts at the Big Ten tourney, Adams relies on his physical strength too much and doesn't project to be drafted as high as casual observers would expect. Said he lacked good pitch recognition and has slow reaction. Essentially, when he gets ahold of one, it's dangerous, but will be eaten up by pro pitching. Like Pedro Cerrano. Just what I heard. What I saw was him knocking the piss out of the ball.Seems like Iowa has their own Kyle Schwarber and they are red hot right now....![]()
