Fidone

People are pouncing on him. He is a decent blocker and receiver IMO. Certainly not the reason we have lost five games. The hate is going to push him into the portal.
Decent blocker? He’s wiffed on more than Aaron Judge in the World Series I like the kid but it seems that if he’s not the go to guy he checks out

Does Wayne State have access to the portal? I’m Fidones biggest critic, his injuries suck and are unfortunate but he is/has not been good here. 87 is a much better TE going forward

He was an NFL TE until the injuries, it sucks for the kid. He I just physically incapable of things he used to do.
Agree, I really feel bad for the young man. And he could have gone anywhere coming out of high school and he chose the Huskers. Injuries suck. And it’s obvious injuries have completely changed what he’s capable of doing. It’s painful watching him try to move laterally.

If he is part of game plan this week needs to only be multiple TE set pass play. No more screens or asking him to block - he can’t do it.

He’s been a favorite of the head coach. Personally I liked seeing Lindenmeyer and Boerkircher out there the blocking was great yesterday. Fidone didn’t have a catch. If he leaves I would think it would be because of his production/opportunities in addition to the ‘hate’. Fidone has mentioned social media posts at least a couple times and that seems to hold sway over him a bit too much IMO.

No, his level of play will push him in the portal. It’s been a very long road for him with the devastating knee injuries. Others are now a better option than him. I don’t think he needs to leave, we still have use for him but being the featured TE those days are over.

I don't see any "hate." We love the kid. He's worked his ass off to get back after two knees. His limitations due to his injuries are obvious. Reminds me of Matt Herian as a senior. Great kid, great leadership. Physically limited by a freak injury, and other athletes passed him up. Respect to the young man, and this is where it is.

Did he play after he got his usual false start? I know he’s a terrible blocker maybe that’s why we saw a lot of the other two tight ends
I would guess he will be part of the number crunch getting to 105. Wished we could have seen him healthy with 2 good knees...I truly feel bad for the young man and his injury issues!

It does not appear his camp is happy.

wow

someone needs to tell Shirley it's:

THE TEAM THE TEAM THE TEAM

Please hit the portal with a mom like that. We don’t need crybabies
Now that everyone gets paid,
Produce or GTFO
Let’s not blame him for his parents. As far as I know, he has always bled Husker red, even through 2 major knee surgeries. His mom didn’t follow the 24 hour rule of letting emotions die down after a game before saying anything about playing time. People make mistakes. She watched her son suffer physically and emotionally for 4 years. Let’s show a little compassion here people..

Frankly, I don’t care about her feelings or whatever. He hasn’t been anything special. He did have some injuries and that’s a shame, but is what it is. His blocking was mediocre, and really kinda shitty based on his size and supposed athleticism
I really don’t care if he leaves, especially with our new TEs coming in.

Yeah. He had that boneheaded false start (that ended up killing the drive) and made a gesture like he didn’t GAF. Glad something like that earns the bench. And then other guys seemed to play well.

This post should be the end of the thread.

Whatever he is, he's slow a foot and moves like your average 6'5" guy, which is slow and lumbering. He doesn't move like a stud athlete 6'5" TE.
Since I never saw him pre injury, I'm guessing it's the actual injuries still lingering or still can't get over them mentally.
I wasn't sure if it was just me thinking that, but he's definitely looked alot slower than when he got here. And I mean, I can't blame him after the injuries he's had. I'm sure nobody is more frustrated than he is.

Tough choices are ahead with 105 man limit. All the changes that have turned over college football the last few years have benefitted the players. This is the first change that clearly does not.

There will be less room to hide projects, recruiting misses, and hard luck injury cases. Coaches will be entering new territory, and will need to adapt. This is now a semi-pro landscape. They need to cauterize their soft spots for feel good stories, and make ruthless personnel decisions.

The injuries have hurt him and our team. The mental lapse though is something this team needs to eradicate. Mistakes have consequences. He’s been a good player and great teammate. I hope he bounces back and has a big game against Iowa.

He's neither a good blocker and can't get upfield. He's been extremely overrated and fell victim to the Holgorsen effect.....thank goodness
